    Feather eating

I figured it out. After some detective work which didn’t take long I observed that he is being driven off the feeders every time he goes for food. In hindsight his crop never feels very full at night so I’m betting his issue is a mix of pecking order and lack of nutrition due to being driven...

    Feather eating

Is it possible for a rooster to be the lowest in the pecking order. It’s only him and one other cuckoo Maran pullet that get picked at. The other Marans who came in at the same time as the one being picked are left alone. No other of my 20 hens are being picked at.

    Broody jumping nests

    Lowest in the pecking order.

I recently was checking one of my Marans and noticed she doesn’t have much in her crop at night. She is the lowest in the pecking order I think and has suffered some plucking. I think she may be getting bullied away from the feeders. She is otherwise healthy. Any advice on how to insure she is...

    Rooster Feathers

So my Jersey Giant rooster typically has a green shine to all his surface feathers. However all his wind tip feathers have become dull. I have noticed his preening gland isn’t producing the oils it should. All other feathers have the shine but the wing tips but the tips of his feathers are also...
