Rooster Feathers

So my Jersey Giant rooster typically has a green shine to all his surface feathers. However all his wind tip feathers have become dull. I have noticed his preening gland isn’t producing the oils it should. All other feathers have the shine but the wing tips but the tips of his feathers are also rather ragged. Any tips on how I can help him. I was considering him for a potential show bird.

Sounds like he’s old enough for a good molt.

He is about 5 months old.

Is he strutting around and flapping his wings together behind his back to make them pop??? My RIR does this (6 months old) and his are ragged on wing tips only. Thought it was just his ‘thing’

I feed Scratch and Peck Organic Grower as well as organic greens such as spinach, collards, and other vegetables that are safe for chickens.
