My chickens are currently in two chicken tractors.
But we are working on building a bigger coop.
We used 4 pallets for the floor. The legs are made of old wood we had. We did have to buy the blocks.
More pallets for walls
We used old siding for the walls

I am pretty much done with my new coop, but can not move my chickens in until I have a run in place. I just canʻt quite decide how I want to build my run. I would appreciate if you post pictures of your runs so I can get some good ideas.
Right now we have 6 hens and 2 roosters living in two tractors. The tractors work well, but I would like the chickens to have more room- so we are building a coop.
Look on my BYC page to check out the coop in progress. So far we have used mostly recycled materials. We did have to buy the paint...

I hope this link works. This coop has a floor of 3 wood pallets, I am going to use 4 so it will be slightly bigger.
I am considering having the yard be 20 feet by 20 feet, but split down the middle so each yard will be 20 by 10.
We currently have 6 hens and 2 roosters (all rhode island reds) living in two separate tractors (3 hens and 1 rooster in each). We are about ready to start building a permanent coop and run. See link to coop we are building http://www.oklahomahistory.net/chickencoop.html.

I posted awhile ago about my one depressed hen and introducing her to our new pullet. Well they are now living happily together, no fighting, no depression etc.... (I know everyone says you shouldn't just have two chickens, don't worry we have some chicks, but they just are not ready and neither...
I was going to ask the same thing. I am going to be putting a laying hen (currently eating layer feed) and a pullet (currently eating grower feed) together and am not too sure about the feed issue. In Raising Chickens for Dummies it says that you shouldn't feed the layer feed until they start...
Thank you so much. We did a much longer meet and greet semi-unsupervised (hen and pullet couldn't see me) yesterday. There was a little bit of pecking, but nothing too bad. I think I am going to do this for a couple more days then add them both to a different coop in the evening.
I recently bought 3 young hens. Not too sure how old, but had just started laying- then tragedy struck. A dog attacked and we lost two of the three chickens. The remaining chicken was okay, but depressed. Wouldn't eat, wouldn't drink, wouldn't leave the coop, and stopped laying.
