Hi there! The wrap was from treating for BF but it’s off her foot now. I sprayed the cracks and crevices of the coop with Martins pen and poultry and let it dry before doing DE then sand
Hello there,
I will try to keep this brief and informative in hopes to get advice on my situation.
I’m wondering if my 1 or more of my hens might have mites. For the last 2ish months, our 2 bassets have had a sudden skin irritation, resulting in hair loss, scaly skin and almost constant...
Makes sense. Thank you for your insight! i am still learning and i appreciate you explaining that. So far, i have rubbed Vaseline on their legs and i did a deep clean on the coop which included removing all bedding and nesting box materials. I sprayed the nooks and crannies with the product...
Thank you so much for the reply! I have been wanting to change their bedding and do a good cleaning so i will do that all just in case. I will treat their legs with Vaseline too. I appreciate your advice very much!
❤️🩹Please help!!
I could use some guidance/advice/encouragement — does this look like scaly leg mites?
I’ve been attempting to treat 2 hens for bumble foot but i am recently thinking that it could potentially be scaly leg mites instead(?) i have successfully treated one of these hens for BF...
Good evening everyone,
I have a barred rock named big mama (who is top of the pecking order) with what I believe is Bumblefoot.
Her feet are kinda pillowy looking and one has 1 brown spot and the other has 2 brown spots (plugs?).
She’s acting completely normal, walking normally and...

Hi everyone!! Thanks for all the help lately. This young lady has been “losing feathers” for a Couple weeks now and she is looking so homely, poor thing. From what i read, she is likely too young to molt but it’s still a slight possibility. We have a total of 4 chickens living together in a...
Thank u 🙏
The soldier fly ones are a diff variety :).
I think the issue with what we were doing was that we were giving them a bunch every day. Like 2-4 mason jars full every day for 5 ladies 😕 from what I’ve been reading, we were really allowing them to over indulge 😣 we’ve been giving...
Thank you for the encouragement!!
They are on purina organic layer and oyster shell. Prior to the liver hemmorage gal, they were also getting a ton of party flock worms which I’ve since found out aren’t the best thing to allow them to over indulge in :/ i keep a small bowl of food in their run...
@Shadrach
Thank you so much for your reply!
We bought the girls as 6 baby chicks from a local ag store back in Feb and these are our remaining 4 (lost one to a gutsy hawk who went inside their old run and then lost another a few weeks ago to a liver hemmorage - we had a necropsy done on...
My girls were out free roaming and this lady was hiding in a bush and didn’t want to go into her coop. I’m pretty sure she’s molting(?).
Do you think one of her 3 other lady friends is pecking at her to make her beak and comb look like this? I think her beak is cracked.
I currently have...
Hi there! I’ve been browsing threads searching for info — my seemingly healthy 8 month old barred rock lady curled up in the corner of the coop and died today. How in the world do I figure out where (if even avail) we could send her for a necropsy? Thank you so much in advance!
Hi all!
Today is day 6 of receiving our first eggs from the girls. We have 3 barred rocks and 3 buckeyes - all 5 months old. The barred rock with the largest comb has been laying 1 a day (with the exception of day 2 which she didn’t lay any at all). Today, I noticed the middle barred rock...
Good morning! We have 2 male peking ducks that have recently began biting our ankles (and sometimes toes if available) and running in front of us as we walk, essentially almost tripping us:hmm. They always have duck pellets available to them but they mostly free range for food and have been...
Great idea. The cardboard is due to be swapped out for gym mats. My husband just mentioned they ate some newspaper the morning of the 24th and i saw this poop this morning (26th). I sent a pic to our vet and will keep a close eye on things. Thank you sooo much for your help!!
