Hello,
The other day I was having a conversation with one of my friends who also has chickens. We both used different methods to prevent mites and parasites on our chickens. So out of curiosity im curious what everyone else uses with there flock.
What do you use for parasite prevention and...
This exact thing occurred when I had two roosters. I loved my boys soooo much, but once they started affecting the girls and stressing them out. I rehomed them and my girls were much happier. I was upset, but they were having much more fun without being antagonized.
Yup I agree. I never said it was a medicine. As I said its only to help if its respiratory. Just speaking from my own experience, it helped my girls when there were respiratory issues. Anything is worth a shot.
It really does sound like some type of poison or air pollutant. Only thing would be to have a vet do a check and see blood tests. Maybe a predator, but I dont understand the lack of damage to the animals.
I am so sorry this happened.
I did a withdrawal for like a week after the double treatment. But I think the reason is that in the case that we need some type of parasite medication or the drug in the future it will be less effective. I honestly dont think it does anything as it is safe for humans. I wouldn't worry if you...
She is probably having a slow molt. It is a molt that is not really shown unless you look closely. Thats what my hens butt feathers looked like when they came it. It should go away in a few weeks.
I would keep it away from them till it starts to sprout and go in the ground. I would not risk it. Plus they would eat it all and you will get nothing.
Okay so I had a major issue with this in the fall last year. So I took my girl to the vet and it cost a fortune and nothing they did help. This is what I would recommend.
1st separate her, no food or water for 24 hours. In this time massage her crop off and on for a few minutes. You need to get...
I agree that it seems more like a heart issue, but in case it is something respiratory I would recommend Vet Rx, it has saved so many of my girls when respiratory issues arise. You can buy it at your local feed store. Put ONE drop in her mouth, then rub some on her beak, comb, waddle and under...
Hello everyone,
I am from Central Massachusetts and I have 4 hens that are about one and a half years old. I have my hens in a large over ez chicken coop, it’s been altered to have more ventilation at the top. The coop normally only stays about 5-10 degrees warmer than outside in the winter...
How many mg of calcium have you provided her each day?
How long has this shell less egg laying been happening?
Is there an avian vet in your area? She could have some type of illness not allowing her to produce shells, or if she has chronic calcium deficiency? What else do you feed her?

Hi everyone.
I have four hens. They were born August 5th 2021. So they are just over a year and a month or so old. they have never gone through a molt before and I have never experienced a molt so I dont really know what I am looking for.
The Road Island Red hen pictured is just losing all of...
Where I live has decided to start spraying for mosquitos, they have decided to do truck spraying through the neighborhood streets and properties. I am not exactly sure when this is suppose to happen yet, but they are suppose to send us an email when it is our time.
I am worried that this will...
Okay so I know I am a bit late to this posting, but I am still going to give you my two cents. I have the same coop and I do love it, but there are quite a lot of issues with it. First off the roost bars do not fit chickens on the top and Botton bars. Once the chickens get to full size, like...
OKay so I am currently dealing with the ending of a similar issue. For a few days I noticed my hens crop not emptying fully and it was mostly fluid. I assumed sour crop as well, but it turned out to be such an impacted crop from eating to much grass and the fluid built up and maybe causes a bit...
As I said, I am not 100% sure it was sour crop and not just the effects of such an impacted crop. I went to one of the best veternarian hospitals in the new england area called Tufts, so I trusted what they said. The motility drug is called Metoclopramide 2ml (which I give every 12 hours for 7...

Thank you for the information! I brought one of the Road Island Reds to the vet on Tuesday for an impacted crop. She had eaten to much dead grass. Her crop is still a bit full but they put her on a motility drug (Metoclopramide) to keep things moving and an antibiotic (SMZ TMP), as well as...
The temps hit 80 today and the low tonight is 60 in central Massachusetts. I got them last august as chicks so I never had them in hot weather. They have been doing it for 3 hours and haven’t laid down yet. I was just concerned that it could be something more. But it’s just so crazy to me...
