Ok really! WHO IS SICK OF IT?! ~UPDATED!~

Are you sure they're not laying? My little angels were sneaking out of their enclosure and lying in the middle of a huge bush we have. My daughter finally found them, there were about 23 eggs in there! When we took the eggs out they moved into the old barn and layed, now we've finally managed...

    what is this?

I'll probably keep them, unless I can find good homes. I'll keep them at least until I know they're healthy, wouldn't want to give a friend a sick chick. I'll post a pic tomorrow.

    what is this?

We had a surprise this morning. Brand new chickens mysteriously showed up in our coop. I went from 24 chickens to 45! Seriously I went out as usual this morning and it was standing room only! I had to get my kids to look because I seriously thought something was wrong with my mind. Anyway I...

    I am soooo mad!!!!!!!

It was a learning experience. A hard one. In our town we pretty much trust everyone, I mean most of us don't lock doors, leave our keys in our cars. So this was a violation of that. An unwelcome lesson.

    I am soooo mad!!!!!!!

We had a big sale day in out town today and I was selling our chickens. So a lady and her husband come and want 10 chicks, but they only want to pay $1 for each, not $2, Fine, since they're also taking roosters. So originally it was 4 roosters, then they wanted more. So I very specifically...

    Sad day at our house

We have an enclosed coop and run. Where the cat got them was the outside run area, lots of room for them. We just got a dog a great pyrnees that was a working dog protecting farm animals before. That's what he'll be doing now. We tested him and he doesn't bother the chickens at all. So...

    Sad day at our house

Our neighbors cat killed one of our brand new Turkens. Jumped into their pen and took it. We were able to follow the tracks, feathers. This isn't the first time but it's still hard. We feed them, raise them, take care of them and this happens. She told me today at church "Sorry about your...

4wk old chicks pecking tail feathers & some wing feathers.

We've had that same problem. All we could do was seperate the injured. In fact we had two so badly pecked they almost died and they're crippled to this day. My daughter took care of them and they're fine now, but were never able to rejoin the flock. So I'd say seperate.

    New chicks challenges

Well we almost lost several chicks to I guess they were hawks. My daughter was out playing in the new tent we got today and heard the chicks start being louder than usual. She looked out and she says a hawk almost had one. She managed to chase it off, we didn't have chicken wire or anything...

    Vent!

:(My daughters dog killed my favorite rooster last night. She's been breaking down the fence to get in so we moved the chickens to what I thought would be more secure. It turned out to be their death trap. I put them in the barn and blocked the openings with chicken wire tight to keep them...

    dog and chickens topic

We have chickens in our backyard, they have a coop and a fenced in area to forage in. My daughter has a dog. She doesn't eat the chickens but like to go in their forage area and eat their poop and food. Of course she knocks down the fence to get to them. Any ideas how to break this behaviour?

    What to do during flooding

I don't want you to think we're letting them starve we're not. My son wades back twice a day to feed them and give them fresh water. I think tomorrow we're going to bring them in, we can put a tarp down and close them in a room. Thanks, this stinks but water should be down by Friday or Saturday.

    What to do during flooding

We're currently being flooded out here. I have about 9 chickens whose coop and enclosure are almost under water. They have railroad ties in their yard area they can go on, but if they go on that there's no escape from the rain. Other than the railroad ties there is no dry ground for them...

Please Help My Chicken!!! Attacked By Others

We have this problem but with four not just one. We seperated into two coops, one in the front by the house for the injured ones the others are in the main coop in the back. We tried to reintegrate them with bad results so they're just seperated now. Personally it's not a big deal for . If...

    Rooster question

Ah, I didn't know that about Polish Crested, I ordered a straight run and that was one of the breeds. I had to seperate him from the others because they almost killed him, they actually had his neck torn down to where you could see tendons. They also go for his head a lot because of those...

    Rooster question

Hi, I have a Polish Crested Rooster, he's about 6 months old. Due to aggressive tendencies he's seperated from the main group with 3 other chickens that were being pecked to badly. So there's 4 in a smaller coop. Well the Polish started crowing about a month ago, not to much really....until...

    losing chicks

We've seperated the one getting pecked. That one is my daughters pet, so we're going to keep it seperated I believe. They're not in a brooder anymore. I was taught how to take care of baby chicks by a lady who's raised them for about 10 years. She kept hers inside with a heat lamp until they...
