We have 8 golden deathlayer chicks just hatched in incubator.
7 of them are a brownish red color and one is very blonde.
Does the difference in color indicate sex?
Also does anyone have any advice on raising this breed.
Ive heard they are harder to raise?
A dog got in my run and killed 4 of 5 hens .
The 5th one is very weak and shakes her head alot.
I cant find any punctures on her body anywhere but she will only lay around and hasnt been walking all day.
What should we do to nurse her back to health
The temp is 37.5 c and humidity is 72%
I have not double checked the incubator readings .
I candled the eggs on day 18 and i think i have 6 live in the egg if i seen them correctly.
It is day 22 and i have 10 eggs in the incubator.
None of the eggs have pipped yet .
A couple of the eggs seem to have turned a darker shade of brown almost like a shadow on the egg.
Anyone know what i shoud do?
Open the incubator or No?
Bottom right egg?
They are chicken eggs I'm using the digital gauge on the incubator . This is the 1st time we've done this So I'm not real educated on the candling process Some of the eggs hadn't air pockets at others kind of moved around I don't know which is the right one
The 2 that died one was on day 3 . She had a very swollen belly and her vent kept getting stopped up.
The other one dies on day 6 .
She never would eat anything at all.
We tried everything to help her eat but she refused.
What would make her starve herself
We are new to hatching eggs. We hatched eggs Only too lived And both of them died within a week. I need some advice on what went wrong . We have 10 more that are on lockdown right now I just don't want to make the same mistake twice
