Grey Jungle Fowl hen (mother) and two chicks. Price reduced for quick sell. Weather is changing and it will be too cold to ship soon. So I'm reducing the price.
The hen is three years old and has been a prolific layer. The chicks are 8 weeks old and they are a group. This is the last of...
Grey Jungle Fowl hen and two chicks. The hen is three years old and has been a prolific layer. The chicks are 8 weeks old and they are a group. This is the last of my flock. I need room for a workshop and so my chicken ranching days are over. These have been some beautiful birds, if you have...
This is a prolific pair. I have had them for over two years. The hen has laid 6-9 eggs twice a year. I got these birds as part of a trio, and although the rooster will breed with the other hen, these two are definitely the "bonded" pair.
I have hatched eggs from this hen and had about 80%...

Any chicks yet W.C.? I keep meaning to ask you the nature of your 1/4 jungle fowl mix... are they skitish and can they fly?
An update on my birds: My Grey Jungle Fowl have been laying and I now have a dozen eggs in the incubator...
I was following this post and sounds like everyone was giving good advice...just wondering how it turned out? I have jungle fowl and I know that they do pretty well with cold temps, it was the swing in temp that was surprising. Are they o.k.?
There is really no reason to put them together, I have been just trying it out. The domestics roam the yard during the day and jungle fowl are in their pen. I thought I might get some eggs out of it, but its no big thing if I don't.
I just can't get my rooster to settle down and behave with the domestic chickens...attack...attack...attack. So my hopes of breeding them to him are great demininshed.
Here is a video of Grey Jungle Fowl Crowing.
I'm often asked if Grey Jungle Fowl crow like a regular chicken. They do crow but their crow itself is different. Attached is a youtube video of Grey Jungle Fowl crowing. It sound more like a dog yelp than a regular cock-a-doddle-do. Check it out.
I just followed the eariler post the basically recommended using a medical thermometer as well....great minds right? But that got me to thinking about the hydrometer. How do you check that?
Now I know that for hatching chicks it isn't as important as the temperture, but I would still like...
You present a very good question.
First I would trust chemistry over electronics for consistancy. If the elctronics are screwed up in your digital it could give you any reading if its off.
The mercury is going to be consistant...however the mercury could be consistantly off by a degree or...
