10 week old brahma chicks are thin

The feed is 18% protein, 3% fat. Their stools are normal and they seem to be eating fine. They are active and alert. They are big, as big as my Leghorns right now. Maybe they're just growing.

ADM Pen Pals Egg Maker Complete and Egg Maker Balancer

I've been feeding the ADM complete feed for years and I've had no problems. I like not having to worry about mixing. I still give a little scratch when it's cold to help keep them warm. I like that it comes in pellets. Mine seem to not waste as must with pellets.

Fire Safety in your Chicken Coop & Barn - IMPORTANT!

I'm so sorry about your loss. I know you can't replace that which you losted, but thank god nobody was hurt and with this message maybe you can prevent this from happening to someone else. You are right about the clamps on lights. I had one fall off and almost catch a breeding pen on fire...

Can the cckens have the turkey carcass?

If your talking about the leftover turkey carcasses from thankgiving, yes. My girls love it and they will pick every last bit of meat off it. After all chickens are omnivores.

Has anybody else had a chook hatch out ducks?????????

I've had several hens hatch out ducklings. I had better luck with the hens hatching them out than the ducks. I had a silkie hen who rolled 3 duck eggs under the chicken coop and hatched all 3. It was so cute.

Dog Nail...quick hanging out. *Graphic Picture*

My terrier has done this a couple of times and all I did was clean it and wrap the foot in vetrap for a few days so he wouldn't hit it on any thing as it was sore to the touch.

Euthanasia for our 14 year old lab - tough decision

I know just what you are going through! In June we had to put down our English Setter that was 15 years old. She had moved here with us from Texas 12 years ago. Old age had finally caught up with her and she was having a hard time standing and getting up plus she had lost her hearing. Then...

This morning my friend called me to let me know that my Silkie, Snowflake, died last night. She has been keeping my chickens for me since we moved and are in the process of building a new coop. Snow has been a favorite with everybody as she loved to be held and cuddled. She was 5 years old...

NOT what I wanted to open the door to

I was in the great room when I heard a crash on the deck out the backdoor and started to hear a high pitched squill. I opened the backdoor thinking one of the dogs was hurt and found this. It had fallen out of the big tree next to the deck and it was the squirrel making the noise. We got the...

Perches extend full length of coop?

The coop I had at our last house was 8'x20' (boy, do I miss it) and I had the roosts go full length of the short side. It was under a window and the girls seemed to really enjoy it in the summertime. I had 3 2x4s across the 8' side in a stair step this way even the Silkies could get on the roosts.

Feeding a chicken and duck mixed flock their different foods... How?!

I've raised chicks and ducks together and fed them Flock Raiser by Purina. It's made for mixed flocks and all mine have been on it from hatch to about 18 weeks when they switch to layer pellets. Never had a problem using it.

    My chickens eat mice alive?

My chickens love mice. They had a deal with our english setter that she could come mouse in the coop if she would share the kills. Lady just wanted to have the fun of the hunt and the chickens got a treat. Lady passed away in June of old age (she was 15) and the chickens and I miss her. Mouse...
