    Oxine, anyone?

I know this thread is a few weeks old but I just discovered Oxine and am unclear as to how much to dilute to spray over my chickens. I also have a hen with respiratory issues and just bought a nebulizer. I'm going to put her in a clear plastic tote and cut a hole in it to put the nebulizer in...

mille fluer hen sneezing with one foamy eye

Thanks so much for your reply. I was thinking that it may be CRD or MG. They are in a horse stall in my barn so very well ventilated and no drafts. I bring them in for the winter because it's so cold in their coop. I have tried Tylan 50 in the water for about a week. It didn't seem to make...

mille fluer hen sneezing with one foamy eye

I would really love some advice. I've been looking at other similar posts like mine from previous threads but the difference is that all of those chickens seem to be a recent occurrence of sneezing and foamy eye. Mine has been doing it for over a year and my other chickens aren't affected...

mille fluer hen sneezing with one foamy eye

Hi everyone, I have a mille fluer hen that I have had for about a year and a half. I have always heard her sneeze a little bit but she acts perfectly fine eating and acting normal. I thought maybe just allergies. Recently she has been sneezing a little bit more and now has a bubbly eye that...

mille fluer hen has been sneezing

I have a mille fluer hen that I got in May 2013 and I noticed after a day of having her that she sneezes occasionally off and on. I kept an eye on her as she seemed perfectly fine otherwise. It's been over a year and she still sneezes and hasn't passed it on to any of the other hens. It seems...

Hawks having a feast (graphic photos)

I would take your hen to a vet. Even if they don't see chickens they should be able to clean the wounds and give you some antibiotics to help her. I would try to save her.

    Crop problem

I think that's what I'm going to have to try. Leave her on the anti-fungal for a longer time and see what happens. It doesn't seem to be sour and she's not blocked because we did surgery to remove what was in there. I really think that her crop muscle is just not working. My vet has me giving...

    Crop problem

Thanks for the reply. I have heard about the use of Monistat too. Her crop isn't sour though. I think it's not working properly. My vet prescribed an anti fungal that cleared up the sour crop weeks ago. Now it just seems that the food won't move through. There's no impaction since we did...

    Crop problem

Hi, Thanks for responding. I have been putting ACV in their waterers since way before this problem occured. The waterers are plastic. Have been doing it for about 6 months. I use the ACV with " the mother" in it and that's all she has access to.

    Crop problem

Ok here's the story. I have a 7 yr. old Black Star hen that had sour crop about a month ago. I work for a local small animal vet so I took her to be seen. She prescribed an anti fungal and it cleared up. I let her back out with her flock mates and a few days later her crop was very full and...

Hen is laying a gooey mass

Thanks for the reply. I wish I had taken a picture. I don't think she lays this every day. I'll have to get a picture next time I see it. She seems to be acting fine but it's definitely not normal.

Hen is laying a gooey mass

I have a hen that is laying a gooey mass. It looks like silly putty ( for those who remember silly putty). It's been happening for awhile and I just saw which hen is laying it. There's no yolk or white. It's just a mass of goo that is the color of a brown egg. It seems to be the consistency...

Deworming chickens without putting it in their water

Hi, I was wondering if anyone deworms their chickens by putting it on a treat instead of in their water? My hens free range and their are a bunch of water sources ( including puddles) around the barn that they can drink from. I have dewormed them in the past with Piperazine 17 and it tells you...

    Roosters fighting !! Help !!

Well help certainly didn't come my way and I found my big Dark Cornish Rooster laying dead in the grass with the Bantam Rooster standing over him and pecking his head. It is unlikely that the Bantam could have physically killed him. He's much too small to inflict a fatal injury and there...

    Roosters fighting !! Help !!

I do have a 6 hens too. They have all been co-existing for over a year. The Bantam has all of a sudden become very combative. I have been meaning to get a couple of bantam hens for the little rooster since the other hens are all standard and he can't exactly "perform" very well with them...

    Roosters fighting !! Help !!

I have 2 roosters. One is a Dark Cornish and the other is a Bantam. They have been co-existing peacefully for over a year. They have an occassional scuffle but nothing serious. Today the Bantam has been picking fights with the Cornish and the Cornish, who outweighs the little Bantam by...
