I got this bantam from the RSPCA about a year ago, she was found as a stray and I was asked if I would take her in, so I did. All this time I've been thinking she was a serama, but now I'm not so sure.
She's super friendly, likes to peck at feet and will sit on my arm hapily, she's a good layer...
Hi all, Ive decided its time to make a new coop for my little flock. Their current coop was bodged together from pallets and T and G and is not the easiest thing thing to clean, and is a little on the small side. Its just an ugly cube with doors on the back.
This time im going for the classic...
A beautiful and friendly brahama bantam hen. brought up under a chicken and has lived inside since hatching so used to dogs and rabbits. pick up only, from Plymouth, UK. any questions just send me a message.
I got 6 six shipped eggs, and bearing in mind I'm in the UK and the eggs came from just a few miles away, only one hatched. two were non starters and three were scrambled. was quite disappointed. I had little choice as I have no transport and am almost housebound here.
I tried taking the chick away, she still stood there over it trying to tell it to eat the food, she's a very protective mother and will tell the rabbit and dogs off if they get to close, she even had a fight with her reflection in the glass of the TV stand, twice.
I've got some flubenvet to worm my chickens with, but I have a hen with a three week old chick that needs treatment. the hen won't eat anything until she's satisfied that the chick is eating first. can the chick have the wormer too?
I've got a brahama chick with a pekin bantam, she's doing a very good job. teaching it to eat and drink etc.think I might give them outside time today.
there is straw in the nest, I just took her out to get a good view. she's properly on her feet now and running around. I have to have paper there as its inside and on the carpet.
I hope its OK growing up on its own, at least its got its 'mum'. its a Brahma bantam.
it hatched around 11 last night, really easy hatch, pretty quick. its now huddling under mum and refusing to come out for it pics, I'm waiting for her to decide she doesn't need to sit any more and leave the nest.
it just hatched all on its own, was just a late starter lol. only one so far but not expecting more. will post pics tomorrow as its still wet and hiding under mum. plus its 11:30 pm lol.
is she in a place where you can lower a cage of some kind over her to protect her, like a rabbit run? cover the top for protection and leave a dish of food and a rabbit drinking bottle for her and put something heavy on top to secure it all down.
I've got some bantam eggs under a broody hen, and they were due to hatch on monday. I candled yesterday and it was moving quite a bit, looked like the head was towards the air sack, which is now quite big, but couldn't see any internal pipping, but not sure what I'm looking for. do I put a hole...
oh, and I'm in the UK, so its naturally very humid, esspecialy as we've had a lot of rain, so the ground is saturated and now we've had 2 days of hot sun so its as muggy as hell now.
