The chicken who I first noticed the mites on has died. Her former roommate has had a bath with flea and tick shampoo while I waited for the Elector PSP to arrive. Today was nice and warm I washed out the entire coop, let it dry and sprayed with Elector PSP and kept the girls out until it had...
quite. 2 0z per gallon. Used a high pressure sprayer while the girls played in the dirt. I didn't know if it was ok to use on chickens, and I didn't have anyone to help me anyway
I sprayed the coop with Spinosad. Ive been debating the ivermectin or sevin (eight?) to treat the girls. I know I will have to spray the coop again after /at the same time as treating the chickens
Im having a problem with mites. To the extent that I took the most badly affected chicken to an avian vet. Her research is telling her that permethrin has failed to reduce mite populations and that ivermectin is affective. However dosages for ivermectin are not available. Any suggestions or...

I have a run not to disimilar to aarts, but the darn hawk keeps hanging around. It's tried getting in the doors, walking on the roof.... It checks the run out EVERY DAY. My studio is down in the basement with windows facing the chicken run, so I see it.
Is there anything I can do other than...

Where I live (Framingham MA) the town sends a letter to the abutting neighbors to find out if they will be...
My Mother in Maine mailed me the article in the link. I thought it was a positive example of urban chicken keeping that others here might find useful in their fight to get to have their own backyard flock.
Here is the link and I hope it helps someone...
I had a Belgian quail d'anvers chick who was the same way - a total mama's boy. He'd ride around on my shoulder and nestle into my hair. Unfortunatley, once he gained his voice, he had to go to a new home. Our town won't allow roosters. I still miss my sweetie.
Thanks!
Ivan has been one of the sweetest chickens I've had in my 3 years of having chickens. He knows my voice and crows when he hears me. Which is going to get him into trouble, since we are not supposed to have roosters here. He's definitely slow in growing his beard and muffs, the other...
Hi,
I've been reading some of this thread and wanted to post a picture of my d'Anvers roo. Perhaps one of the experts here could give me an idea of his quality? I know he is a hatchery bird and probably not of the proper proportions for show, but he's a sweetie. Of course, he's just started...
