Brown egg layer lays a white egg today

Hahaha, I wasn't the only one with this problem today :) I feed organic layer to my hens and they are less than or right at a year old. I gonna go with 1muttsfan, the hen must have skipped the dye step ;)

Brown egg layer lays a white egg today

Has this ever happened to anyone here? I can't find any info on this doing a google search. Please, if anyone can explain this to me, the hen has been in the coop/run for a few days because I just planted some new stuff and haven't gotten the fence up yet. There is no way a stray chicken can get...

    My dogs ate my chicken!

Ok, this is how I cured my dog from the terrible chicken killing disease.... First I will tell you I got my dog full grown from somebody and she is a hunting breed. When she arrived at my house, within 2 days she killed 3 of my chickens. I went out and bought a shock collar and put it on her in...

    feeding chicken feeds?

Thank you Rozzie, that is exactly it! Genetically Modified in a lab inserting animal genes in to veggies, or vice versa. I am not worried about selective breeding or cross breeding and I don't see that as being genetically modified. When a pesticide is injected into a plant gene to make it...

    feeding chicken feeds?

I am in the same boat! I do not eat GMO's nor will I eat chicken, quail, duck etc. meat or eggs that have been fed GMO's. To the misinformed about GMO's, that is what your feed is made with, it is the cheaper not the more expensive corn and soy. If you don't believe us, please do a little...

Thinking about raising quail and have Q's

Wow, didn't think about the disease transfer. What is the dress out weight of a jumbo brown? How much bigger are the jumbo brown's eggs compared to a bobwhite? I would love to see an egg comparison picture anyone have one? Are the eggs much smaller than a serama egg? Thanks so much everyone!

Thinking about raising quail and have Q's

Thank you all for the replies! I guess if jumbo brown lay the largest egg, than that's what I will look for. I also noticed they don't go broody, so has anyone used a silkie chicken to hatch their quail eggs? I have chickens too, so I wouldn't need to eat quail eggs everyday.

Thinking about raising quail and have Q's

Well, I would like to get the breed that lays the largest egg, does anyone have an opinion on that? What is the normal lifespan? Is it feasible to only have about 6 hens for eggs for my family of three? Has anyone ever raised quail in a bird cage in the house? My husband would never let me, just...

    Gapeworm questions

Thanks, quickly as in a day, a week? I will try the q-tip idea, but I have already treated her with .1cc of ivermectin injectable.

    Gapeworm questions

If my chicken had gapeworm and I gave her the recommended dosage of ivermectin, how long would it take to see an improvement, such as not doing the gasping thing or coughing anymore?

Isa brown hen crossed with Americauna roo Q's

If I cross the two.... Would I get a sex-link easter egger? If so, how can you tell the sex? Would they lay bigger eggs than an Americauna? Would they lay more frequently than an Americauna? Does anyone have these crosses and can you post pics? Thanks!!!

Cool, Thanks. I am sure that will deter a lot of people from rating it. I wish they didn't make people join first , such a bummer.

I need my backyard chicken family!

That is my DH, and yes that is a pygmy. He is much too big to be roaming around in the shop now though (he will jump on the cars). Now it's the chickens that hang out in the shop with DH while he works on the truck.
