    broody lady....

so one of my beautiful EE just finished molting, layed for about 3 weeks, and now is broody.... ARGHHH She looks like a giant feathered pancake with a head... My question is, if I just leave her alone how long will it take her to realize that 1) we are roo-less and 2) I take the eggs every day....

where o where have my blue eggs gone?

I know it is getting colder and darker and all that, but my other girls are still laying great. I get 4-6 eggs per day from 8 hens, just NO more blue ones? Why would both my EE stop at the same time?

Simple question... how can I tell if my chicken are warm enough? I feel like my coop has good ventilation, but how do I know if they are ok with the temps? I am in WA so it is getting frosty at night but not like Alaska cold or anything....

we found a stray chicken (long story) Anyway, this chicken was not looking great when we found her 2 weeks ago. She has been perking up, but has lost a lot of feathers. WHen I was dusting her with Seven, thinking the feather loss might be a bug issue, I noticed she was wheezing. I have her in...

    NO eggs today!!!

my girls have started laying in the last month or so, we have been averaging 2-3 eggs per day. So far today... NOTHING! I removed the roo from the flock yesterday, because of aggressive mating. Could this have messed with their little heads and now they are on strike? any suggestions?

How young is too young to go broody?

My darling EE Bertram Van Munster has been in the nest box for a few hours with nothing to show for it. She has been laying every other day for about the last 3 weeks. I picked her up and found a brown egg (she lays blue green) and set her in the other box. Is this normal? do they often "hang...
