I am so excited! There is an online survey you can take to give your opinion on allowing chickens in Murray! Currently Salt Lake County allows them, however Murray City has said no. They understand there is a rising interest in raising chickens, so they are asking the public for their opinions...
I am having the same problem! Only one of my chickens is eating the feathers. They have plenty of high protein food, calcium, and fresh water. I feed them alfalfa pellets soaked in water the night before for added protein. I even add sunflower seeds to their scratch for extra protein as well...

One of my hens started acting funny, I figured out she had impacted crop. I gave her flaxseed oil, and massaged her crop, then gave her apple cider vinegar and massaged that into her crop as well. She was doing much better a few hours later. Then by the end of the day her crop size was in half...
Hmm.. Well that was interesting! Yesterday I put a light in their coop. Last night I turned it on at 5 (the girls go to bed at 5:15). Well, I went to check on them an hour later, and only two were on the roost! the others were hanging out in the nesting boxes! So I kicked them out of the boxes...
That's funny! My message tone on my phone is a recording of all of my girls doing the egg song at the same time! The other day I was in their coop doing some cleaning, when it went off... they looked at me so funny!!!! They had that look like they were thinking... that sound isn't supposed to...
