    moving babies outside(the coop)?

I have seven chicks. Six of the seven are six+ weeks old and one is four weeks. I currently have a 60 watt lamp in the brooder for the four week old chick and the older chicks don't need it as they a fully feathered. The question I have is would it be ok to put the four week old outside in the...

    plotting rescue

Any advice? Of course I already have a brooder set up for the 16 button quail eggs in the incubator..... would have to do some fast footwork to set up another brooder. If I got say 4-5 Bantam chicks, would a 10 gallon fish tank be too small? I could scrub up another tote from down at the barn...

    pasty but?

I would clean their butts with warm water and then put a 1/4 tablespoon of vinegar per quart( i used apple vinegar to change the color of water..but regular vinegar and food coloring would work) for a few days, worked like a charm for me and make sure they are not getting to hot which also can...

    New baby...

N&MSchroeder : Baby chicks can die from a number of reasons other than disease, which is why so many BYC members recommend buying more than 2. It is a good thing that your new baby is sharing a brooder. He/she would be pretty unhappy by itself. I say relax and enjoy! Thank you and will do.

Hi..I bought six bantam chicks on Feb. 21, 2011. When I got the chicks home I had their brooder ready and I gave them sugar water for an hour then regular water and medicated chick feed.
