I'm always reading about people wondering what treats are ok to feed and I've read that chickens are close to vultures on the aviarain(sp?) scale, not sure if that is true or not. But anyway, I caught a couple of mice I found hiding under some boards outside and I stepped on them yesterday and...
It's my McMurry mystery chix and as a baby it was solid yellow with several small black polka-dots on it's back. Now it's almost 6wks old and I was thinking it was a roo because of the comb size and color, but now not sure about that either. I'm assuming it's a pure breed and not a mutt since it...
I feel like such a dumbass !!!! I have a 6wk old CW pullet that I've kept in a seperate cage inside the run area for almost a month, I didn't want her to be alone and was thinking that the flock would get used to her better with her being around them and I knew there would be some pecking order...
He's 3 months old and already crowing and doing his thing with the 6 month old BR hen I have, who just started laying also, I think he got her egg laying system going
The other girls aren't ready for his studly-ness just yet
I've read about lots of people with lots of different predator problems, but haven't heard much about spiders. This didn't happen to me, but saw this pic on the net and didn't know if anyone has ever had to deal with spiders now or in the past.

You've got to be kidding me???? It's not like this person was torturing an animal or putting it in a ring and forcing it to fight for their pleasure, or that it was even a bald eagle!!!! I'm sick of people being so...
So I'm now finding out that BR's are easier to tell apart that I had previously thought. I thought I had two BR pullets and 1 just happened to be very light with light legs also and the other very dark with dark legs. So tell me what you think based on the feathering so far????
I can't find anything on Electric bug zappers, but I thought that if I hung one up in my run area that the bugs would die then fall and the chix could eat them. Plus I could avoid fly catchers and etc. The spot I'm thinking of hanging it wouldn't be a potential touching hazzard for the girls. So...
If I buy chicks from a hacthery why would I not want to vaccinate for Marek's Disease and I didn't even know I could vaccinate for Coccidiosis until today or that the medicated feed would nullify the vaccine, but wouldn't these be good things to prevent if possible?
I'm a bit of a conspiracy...
