did your hen recover? i have frizzle cochin, she went broody, then couldnt stand up. eats, drinks, same symptoms.. hold her up, she moves her legs but they wont hold her.
well i went out and he was practically laying down. i took him out and held him a minute, came in made sugar water and gave him some with the syringe without the tube (i used to hand feed baby cockatoos years ago this way). i decided to wait an hour and see if he perked up any. he is not...
its over. i cant do it anymore. i just checked on him he is no longer standing. i noticed this horrible thing too late, i should have done the surgery 3 days ago. we are putting him down, he is too weak to try anymore. thank you for all your help and support. he was a beauty.
he has no muscle at all on his breast, and is sitting, he is very weak... my choices are:
1. put him down
2. try the surgery today
3. give him another day to hydrate him..
i thought i had made the decision to put him down but now im second guessing
going to try the surgery i think. i want to try. going to get saline and find some long tweezers.. i dont have a good feeling but its either that or put him down. i will let you all know what happened. thanks. i think if he survives it will be a long road.
he didnt eat the eggs. im afraid to try to get more water in him. i can see into his throat, im afraid i did something wrong. if i shot it in the wrong hole it would have killed him right?
hes to the point where he is suffering. he is barely standing up. im making him something to eat. i dont have the money to drive the distance to petsmart for baby bird food, i dont even have the gas money today. i did all i could i believe in my heart its time to let him go. if he perks up...
it didnt budge. i must not be getting enough water in at once. some brown smelly liquid came out and not very much. not sure if im going to put him thru the cutting. i need to let him go in peace. im going to scramble him some eggs. i gave oil day before yesterday and then read it is not...
im going to go tube him again w/ a longer tube. if it doesnt work, im cutting him later today when my boyfriend gets home. i have to try. if i dont hes being put down today anyway. i will read and get everything i can ready, im only worried about closing it back up. if he appears to be...
vet not an option. i dont have the money. he's gonna die. its either put him down or try the cut method... im going to tube him again at some point today. this grass knot is oblong now, about the size of a smushy oblong baseball, i dont see how it would pass through his trachea? or whatever...
i just tubed him using a piece of hose from my nebulizer and a large TS syringe... used the baking soda and water... nothing happened. i tried it 4 times... maybe i didnt use a long enough length.. i used about 7-8 inches of tube, it was in a few inches... there was alot of water on the...
well i dont think the maggots did much... i saw him eat a couple, but it seemed he bit them in half, doubt if the ones he ate survived.. then i had the idea of scrambling an egg soaked in oil to get him to eat the maggots, and i think the rest of the maggots died. starting to consider the...
he has pooped a tiny bit, its definately green grass in there... he got loose last week, and was hiding from the other roosters in a patch of grass. he must have ate alot of it... the obstruction is very large and i can feel it in there... im going to pick up the maggots. i have read alot of...
