We ordered 25 mixed roosters from McMurry's. we sent all of them to the freezer except Rex. He is great with our girls but I was hoping someone could help me figure out what kind he is. Thanks for the help.
I have 6 reds, 2 barred rocks, 1 buff orpington, and a black star ( the one that's picked on). I don't know what the roo is. My hens are 18 months and the roo is 6 months. She has been picked on in the past but the most recent injury pccured when she started molting
The roo is relatively new... The rest of the flock has been together since the day they hatched... Some of Tue new damage is from him but its more than that... Right now she is isolated in her own coop and run (the hatchery that isn't occupied at the moment but runs right next to the hen house...
Hi everyone! I've got six RR, 1 BO, a black sex link, and 2 BR. I also have a rooster named Rex... Not sure what he is... I live near Walkerton close to the South Bend area. Glad to see I'm not the only Hoosier... Not looking forward to the freezing rain and snow on the way. At least I know the...
Ok I really need some help. I have 10 hens and a rooster... All of them are about the same size but different breeds. We have one hen that is repeatedly picked on. This summer they pecked off half her comb while we were at church... Several times she has had bald spots on her backside from...
Hello anyone viewing this page!

my chicks started jumping and playing on roosts at a week old. one or two of them started roosting at about three weeks and now they roost on anything that sits above the wood shavings ... this includes the walls. They knock the walls over daily and I am trying to finish their coop as soon as...
If you have an enclosed run you can probably let them out on the first day. If you plan to let them free range during the day they need a few days to adjust to their new home. If they don't know its their home you will have to chase them all over the yard. Your chickens look like my Rhode Island...
I started my chicks on snacks and treats at 6 weeks. Check the back of the feed bag, it will say when you should start and stop using the feed when it says. This can be different for each brand of feed. One of my starters said to switch at 6 weeks and the other said 10 weeks.
i love chicken math! We wanted 3 and had to by 6 from TSC. then we knew to build a bigger building for future chickens but I stopped at a store to get more supplies and just had to get more chicks because we know have the room for it. we wanted 3, bought 6 and built for 14. we now have 14...
I have 6 6-week old pullets and I just got 8 1.5-week old pullets. I put them in a brooder together but after 20 minutes there was a bit of pecking and I was afraid of what would happen the longer they were together unsupervised. I divided the brooder into two sections with an old window pane...
I agree, just watch and make sure it doesn't get any more serious. My babies are 5 weeks old and we had a bully, Now she is the top hen and things have settled down considerably. There was pecking, chasing, pushing the other chicks off their perches while sleeping and jumping on them. There was...
