Don't get me wrong, I Love my silkies BUT

Quote: If you want them to roost, when they come in at night and are getting settled down, pick them up and place them on the roost until their feet grab on. It may take a few nights of you showing them what you want them to do. I had to train my Lola when I had to get rid of her bothers...

Don't get me wrong, I Love my silkies BUT

Actually yesterday I did trim the one hens crest, she is the "slowest" acting, she does nothing all day, so I thought maybe she was having issues seeing cause her crest was So full, but I have trimmed it before and she is still a little bump on a log, so I guess it is her personality, or lack...

Quote: Isn't it a pain? Ive been doing it for a couple weeks now and it is getting old, I can't figure out why they won't go in on their own, their hutch is so low to the ground for that purpose, I knew silkies didn't like doing ramps but this is ridiculous

Don't get me wrong, I Love my silkies BUT

Well I went out today and bought 2 little white fences, the kind you put along a garden, I'm going to attach them on either side of the ramp and see if they will go up it, maybe they think they will fall off the egde? Not that it would matter, it is so close to the ground. One of these nights...

I wait till after dark and they are all huddled in a corner of the run, they just don't seem to know how to go up that little ramp? I can't imagine that but when I put them in their little coop they seem to be happy and feel safe. I have 10 of them and it's getting old having to put them to bed...
