Thanks, Robinaggie... I did find help and it is coccidiosis.
Please keep your fingers crossed that the other 3 have a fighting chance. I'm doing everything possible.
This morning when I went out, my 7 week old Cochin was puffed out and unwell plus she had bloody poop. I ran in and checked online, sounded like cocci. I treated her for it with Sulmet and when I went back out to check about 30 minutes later, she had a convulsion and died on my feet.
It's...
Yay on the pip! I just loved my EE chicks. So sweet and cute with their little chipmunk like markings,
You know, I should probably consider therapy for Tyson... He's been "practicing" crowing for over 2 months and it still comes out as just a long "ERRRRR!" sound. Poor boy
I look forward to...
As if Tyron wasn't bad enough... I actually have a rooster named Tyson To make matters worse, Tyson is a Naked Neck. Bless his heart, he has a mean name and unique looks.
I'm not sure why Tyron is so evil... I handled him like my others but he's not too into my coming into his quarters at all...
Same here... I'd love to become as self-sufficient as possible but I just can't bring myself to do it.
Actually, I have a cornish cross roo who is plain evil. I keep him in a seperate pen and I have to enter with caution. But I cannot kill him. I can threaten him, sure. Part of that is because...
I tend to take the different approach with bribing my chicks to hatch I start talking about wanting a scrambled egg or an omelet... Or maybe nuggets (I call my peeps "nuggets" to my dogs and cats seeing as they stare with such longing)
Just kidding. I live by the rule of if I meet it, I can't...
Congratulations on your 5 babies! I bet they're all adorable but I think Lola will remain my favorite. She sounds like she's so full of spunk.
Although, that BTWJB is quite cute... That's also on my list of needed chicks My aunt has a gorgeous, sweet BTWJB rooster named Stumpy and I just love...
I'm not sure if this belongs in this forum but I wanted to talk about my sweet roo to those who also love their chickens and "get it".
This evening, I went out to do my rounds with the animals... I began slicing up a melon for my chickens and goats and noticed my little helper, Basil, the roo...
Good luck with your hatcher, Birdboy... I know little about them as I've mainly depended upon my hens to hatch my eggs.
luvmychicknkids, I'd probably stammer, laugh and stutter when someone asked why I named the chick "Lola" So your first born has a name... an interesting, memorible name...
Quote:
Thanks, I needed that laugh! Ooh man, my mind is just horrible but I'll just leave at I'm thinking this chick should be named Lola, the showgirl chicken
Yay for the latest hatchling. I bet he's adorable but I do expect pictures when he's not so camera shy.
As for the scratching, I...
I'm anti-decaf too, luvmychicknkids. We must be kindred spirits. I've had insomnia since I was 12ish. I drove my parents nuts with my night owl tendencies. Now that I'm on my own, it's even worse. I tend to get 3-4 hours sleep and it's usually from 5 am to 9 am.
Anyway, I'll stop highjacking...
Why yes, I have seen Matilda! It was such a favorite movie when I was younger, I named my dalmation mix "Matilda". Miss Mattie is now 11 years old I watched that movie with my niece just a month or so ago and little Lavender was adorable.
As for the gender feelings... Well, I suppose I'm 25%...
Rosemary, my little bantam mix hen, finally hatched one lone little egg on Sunday night. The other 3 were no good when I candled them but this single little one hatched, thank goodness. Basil, my bantam roo, is quite the proud daddy.. He flies up on the coop I'm keeping her in and crows...
This hatch is going to make sure you never sleep this week. You should probably start a pot of coffee at this rate
And yes, I know the gender of my chicks as well... Just not literally. My new little one is a girl. My mom brought up the fact that it could very well be a roo and I told her I...
Congratulations, she's ADORABLE! You need to post pics of her all fluffed out as well The blue fluff on her bottom sounds to die for... Yeah, these are definitely on my list for next year.
You're too cute with your hatching babies... You sound like such a nervous mom to be but so was I and my...
Eep, I definitely need them then! I have a SLW and I absolutely love her. Seems like the feed store was getting in some sort of wyandottes this round... hmm.
Or maybe I'm looking for a justified reason to go check out the babies.
Editted since we posted at the same time... but at least you're...
Oh my goodness, I need some of these chicks! You sound like me with the impatience and urge to use a hammer
So seeing as I need some of these babies, what does BLRW stand for? I'm still figuring out the breed abbreviations.
Everyone thinks I'm nuts when I say I need chicks... but sheesh, I...
Yay!
Sounds like your night is going to be like my night last night! My broody finally hatched her one lone little egg and I stayed up checking on them randomly and waited until he was hatched to move her into a pen at 2 am. (she nested on the deck in a flower pot, go figure )
Good luck...
Thanks so much, he's back to his little evil self tonight.
I gave him the baking soda mixture which ticked him off horribly and this evening, he was back to his antics of flips, jumps and sillyness.
I have 5 more goats, all whom I love, that are much older (ranging from 11 years old to 6...
This morning, when I let my little 5-6 month old buckling out for the day, he acted very strange.
He vomited a bit or at least I classify it as vomiting. He spit out a gob of chewed on hay/cud and refused to eat for a good while... He's eating now but being very finicky. He's usually into...
