My 2 blue lace red hens have got swollen feet and shanks. It's not bumble foot. The hens are older, I think 6 in our years. The feet and shanks are hot to the touch. They won't come out of the coop. Anyone know what this could possibly be? Thanks
Hello. I am having the exact same problem with a serama pullet. She has a healthy appetite and is drinking fluid. I noticed several days ago (she is in a brooder w/ several others), some bloody poo. I treated for coccidia. I was looking on this site to see if anyone else has or had the same...
I dusted my lavenders when they were 8 weeks old. I was very careful not to get in their nose, and, they did fine. Are your chicks dusting themselves in the dirt yet? If so, you can put some sevin dust or poultry dust in the spot where they are dusting. Good luck
Have you checked for lice or mites of any kind? I had a pullet do the same as yours. She died. I had put her in a plastic bag until I could bury her. To my horror, she was covered in lice and mites. I think they wore her down. I immediately bathed the other pullets in DE earth. Just a suggestion
Yes, her legs are splayed out just as you described. I put electrolites in the water as soon as I put the chicks into the brooder. I have this little hen in a brooder box with 4 day old Seramas. They are not picking on her like the other chicks. She is really trying to walk
I received my little hatchlings today from the hatchery. I have one chick that is trying so hard to walk correctly but she can't. Every once in awhile she will get up on both feet and walk around )looks like she is drunk). Neither the leg or foot is broken from what I can detect, on the leg...
I've noticed that one or two of my girls are makeing a constant moaning noise all night when roosting. My interupation of this sound is that of pain or woes me. Is this normal? Thanks
Hi everyone! I posted a question last week about this poor hen. She was pecked by other hens. I found her laying on the ground. I am cleaning her bottom several times a day w/ saline solution. I put triple antibiotic ointment all around her vent, and really slather it on all over her entire...
Hen has been plucked on rear end so bad, it looks like hamburger meat. She drank a little pedialite. Not bleeding. What do I need to do? She is in a enclosed kennel in my bedroom. I am keeping her warm. Thanks for any help
