    Hen with an injury

Thanks a bunch for the link! When I first saw the injury it never occurred to me that this would be from a rooster!

    Hen with an injury

Yes I am sure they would have been around roosters. Do you think that is from a spur?

    Hen with an injury

Should we be doing anything about this? She's laying and acting normal... She also has some bald spots on her back and butt where there...

Does this baby chick seem sick? (10 sec video)

Quote: I haven't seen her drink on her own but when I put her beak in the water she puts her head back and moves her mouth like she's drinking

Does this baby chick seem sick? (10 sec video)

Quote: I'm not an expert but I agree that there is something not right about the chick. I just don't know what to suggest. Is the humidity that high because of where you live? We are in Northern Alabama and the humidity outside is around 87%

Does this baby chick seem sick? (10 sec video)

Here is a really short video of our only baby chick. She hatched 2 days ago and seems lethargic and looks like it's panting. We are keeping the brooder at 95f and the humidity at around 60%

Today is day 26... at what point do I give up?

Quote: Thanks all for the tips and information. I did the float test and no movement was detected. We left them in the water floating for a full minute just to make sure. I took them outside and gently opened the shells. They were all dead but roughly at the same stage of development. Beaks...

Today is day 26... at what point do I give up?

Quote: THanks... I'll try that today. The one that did hatch came out two days ago and the incubator smells awful. I didn't know if the baby chick was stinking or dead eggs.

Only one of the 9 chicken eggs in our incubator have hatched and this is day 26. Is there any point in keeping it going?
