    Expert Polish Opinions Wanted

Based on the Polish I raised this year and how mine turned out, I would say pullet on the right and cockerel on the left by the shape of the crests. Our pullets faces are deffinately covered more, and the cockerels shows more. Looks like a pair to me for sure. Also, my pullet developed her...

    Need help identifying breed

Now that I've looked at some other pics online, he does look like a cochin bantam, but I don't think he's Mille Fleur, because he doesn't have the coloring of a Mille Fleu with the white etc. I have heard that as the Mille Fleurs get older, their coloring gets better. Guess I'll have to wait...

    Need help identifying breed

We bought this rooster as a chick from a group of "assorted bantys". We thought he was a Mille Fleur at first, but as he's gotten older, he's lost his white feathers instead of getting more. Any help would be appreciated, my daughter wants to take him to the fair, and it would be best if we...

Updated pic. Need help determining breed...

***UPDATE*** I had a couple different guesses as to what breed these guys were. One was Pencilled Cochin and one was Dark Brahma Bantam. Thought someone might be able to tell better with this updated picture. They looked the same as chicks, but have grown to look quite different. Can't...

    What breed of Guinea keets?

Bought a variety of Guinea keets from a local feed store, but nobody there knew what breeds they were! I'm guessing the keets with the darker, or more grey on the head are Lavendar, not sure. And I don't have a clue about the ones with the lighter head. Have any ideas?

    Preventing Calcium Deposits???

It's interesting that we only get a couple of eggs that way a day. I wonder if it's the same hens laying those eggs? We do give the hens oyster shell...but like you said, if we withheld the calcium, they would be worse off.

    Preventing Calcium Deposits???

Does anyone know how to prevent calcium deposits on egg shells? We sell our eggs but don't sell the "imperfect" ones, so the deposits put a cramp in how many we sell. Any ideas ?

PICS finally! edited to add more pics..

Here is a pic of one of my Australorp chicks. Looks about the same size as yours, maybe a little younger. Yours does seem to have more white on the head. Mine does have the white on the feathers in the chest/belly area. The last picture you have posted of yours looks very similar to mine, but...

PICS finally! edited to add more pics..

If they all look that way, black with gold on the front, they are all pullets. The roosters will be completely different in color. It's easy, at least for me, and obviously others, to get the chicks mixed up when they're young. Some of the breeds look very similar. The Sex-Links are suppose...

BR sexing by color Update:pics added

How funny!!! Mine are just the opposite, and from a hatchery called Phinneys, here in Washington state. Is it possible the hathcheries might breed them to get different tones in the male and female for sexing purposes???

PICS finally! edited to add more pics..

Black one with the white head looks similar to my Black Australorp chicks. The black with the gold on the chest looks like a black sex-link or Black Star to me.

How old? In my experience, most of my roosters have been a lighter shade or grey and the hens have been darker in color as they start to feather.

    Washingtonians

Herbandteas, Yes, we've collected quite a variety over the past couple years. Trying some new breeds of chickens this year, for egg production and show at local fairs. We also sell eggs, and some chicks. Ameraucanas are for fun. Guineas are to keep the bugs down. It's a hobby, also been a...

    Polish chicks... hens? roos?

Yes they are the same age...I may have lucked out then, cause I got two like the first one, and one with the fuller feathers on the head, hopefully a roo. My daughter is wanting to take them to our local fair as a trio, so that would be perfect. We've got our fingers crossed! Thanks for all...
