Hello Soggy Northern California Chicken Peeps!!! I am looking for hatching eggs in Butte, Sonoma, Marin, Napa or Lake Counties. My preference would be Marraduna Basque, Pita Pinta, Barnevelder or any sort of Plymouth Rock other than Barred. That said I am willing to consider other breeds as...
Thank you for the welcome back! I just looked at the Bari Farms website. They have some lovely birds. Thanks for the tip. I will go on a CCL hunt in the spring time. Thanks for those resources.
I am confused by the current lack of Basque Hens, even the breeder's club has no recent...
Thank you Ron! Pita Pintas...you are speaking my language. I miss my velcro hen Daphne. Erminettes and Pita Pintas together would be fun...like a postive/negative image of each other. 🙂
Hello, I have been away from BYC for awhile but was pretty regular for several years. I live in Lake County and have a mixed flock. Erminettes, Dorkings, Australorps, Barred Holland, and others. I would very much like to add Marraduna Basque Hens and Crested Creme Legbars to my flock and...
Hello, I have been away from BYC for years but my flock is going and growing and crowing strong. I will be travelling up Interstate 5 from Williams to Cottonwood tomorrow and I have a broody who would really like some fertile eggs. I do not currently have a rooster in my flock so I am not...
Hi all, it's been a while but I am looking for a Welsummer Rooster and thought this would be the place to check. Hope all of you and your birds are well. I am sure your flocks are enjoying these rain free days!
@PetRock , @ronott1 @Kaylish Thank you for the support and kindness. Ron the offer to do a special hatch is beyond sweet. Right now I am not up to any more carnage so all of the birds on site are here to stay for awhile. I do have 5 cockerels to process...they should have been done a...
Godiva's necropsy came back with an MG diagnosis...I am happy that I know the answer and confused and sad about next steps.
I want to do the responsible thing but am unclear what that means exactly so please tell me. Thanks!
This unfortunately struck me when I had 3 broodies raising a...
Hi all, I have had no further losses. 6 girls total lost all from the same pen. They included my most favorite girls, my Pita Pinta, my Chocolate Rock, my Konza and one of my Dorkings as well as an Australorp who was member of my original flock and a blue Ameraucana
I have had no new...
@casportpony before I had the chance to call they sent me an email. What I know is that she didn't have salmonella also included was this:
* Moderate to severe, bilateral fibrino-necrotizing conjunctivitis and sinusitis..5-22-2015: the most significant finding in this chicken is the...
nikki the way I understand it you have 3 choices:
a) Cull your whole flock
b) isolate the sick bird(s) and cull them as they manifest illness... This is what I have done
c) give antibiotics and hope you can save the sick ones but if it is one of the many viral infections the antibiotics won't...
If they don't stink it is probably not Coryza but you won't know unless you send her to Davis. If she were mine I would cull her.
I am battling a disease with similar symptoms right now. I am very sorry that you are going through this!
First step is to isolate the sick girl asap and don't...
Thanks hoping it holds.
I am sorry you lost another. That's awful. It sounds like you have a handle on it at this point and I hope it all works out for you and you have no more deaths.
