I just thought I would post some of the information I have gathered regarding green legs....
Green legs are caused by a combination of the Yellow leg gene (which is recessive) and dermal melanin which is a bluish pigment under the skin.
Dermal melanin is usually controlled by a gene called ID...
Personally, I would rather work on pale legs, than to have poor type. That is just my opinion, and is no way meant to try to say one way is any better than another. We all have our theories, and just have to give them a try. I am just happy to see an interest in the breed, and wish you all well...
I have not hatched any green legged Delawares from my stock. However, I did hatch them from Jesse McDaniel eggs. I just chose not to deal with it, and I sold them all. I did ask a few people their opinions on the matter, genetic knowledgeable people, and they do feel it can be bred out...

We are all still learning. The Delawares are a difficult breed to work up to the standard. AND, there are not really a whole lot of Delaware breeders out there. A couple known breeders have been producing green legs lately, so I imagine they are working on that.
SO, removing all the, "nots," ... we are left with this. Is this correct?
