Well final tally I'm afraid is 16 RIR's and 2 D'Uccle banty's. Candled the remaining eggs and wound up removing almost half of the remaining as it seems they quit at day 18 or 19. The remainder that were still alive I'm hoping will hatch at some point today. Anyway congrats to everyone that was...

I am breeding and increasing my flock size to sell eggs to help pay...
7 hatched so far with 4 pips and 1 of those is zipping away slowly but surely!!! I'll post some pics in the morning been foolin with my new calves all afternoon and am exhausted. Congrats to all ya'll!!!!!
Oh and chicksntexas that is awesome!!! I keep trying to see inside my hatcher and listening closely but I can only see the first two rows of eggs through the window I can't wait till tomorrow evening when I get back from the sale barn to see if I have any babies!!!
Buttercup just stay calm it should be fine just bring the temp back down to 99.5 and make sure the hum is around 70-75 %. the smell I can't explain but as long as it doesn't smell like a rotten egg it should be fine.

From my understanding it takes the last 3 days for the chicks to orient themselves and everyone recomends laying them on their sides for those last 3 days
Oh and cutting the bottom out of those cartons seems to be a matter of preference I didn't do that to mine and so far I have only removed 6...
I've been checking my hatcher about every hour even though I know that it's still too early lol I can't help myself I'm so excited to see whats gonna happen!!!
36 on lockdown as of 9 am. along with 6 d'uccle bantys. HOping they continue to do as good as they did the first 18 days. Temps an humidity are lookin good 70% and 99!!!
I know I'm so EXCITED!!!! I fired up the hatcher this evening to get it ready and make sure temp and humidity are good to go. Everything is looking good!!!
Chicksntexas I crack a few open just to see but these I didn't because I could clearly tell it was all liquid inside. Then my wife accidentally dropped one in the container we were putting them in to give em to the hogs and sure enough it looked like a scrambled egg and luckily didn't stink lol.
I candled again this evening and culled 4 that were finally able to tell they weren't doing anything all the rest are looking really good with lots of movement

Chicksntexas thats cool I saw his postings looking for a good home for "Mr Peepers" lol that was really nice of you to do that for him. He/she should be fine until the rest of the eggs hatch next weekend.
