Hi guys! We have a GORGEOUS Giant Blue Cochin roo who my son raised and would love to sell or at the least rehome to sone who would give us some fertile eggs from him down the line in exchange. He is gentle with the ladies, and never has had a mean bone in his body. We just do not want a roo...
Doug we have two girls sitting too! So exciting! Our first time too. Our dark Brahma and blue laced red are both doing an amazing job. It took 7 full days before I got the dark Brahma off to poop and eat. She was mad at me but she ended up having a dust bath, scratching around and eating...
Put these under my broody blue laced red wyandotte and dark Brahma girls. Pray for them! First time broody moms and our first time hatching. I would be lying if I said I was not worried about all the what its. But off we go! Today is day 2.
388chick! Its your friendly neighbor from down the road. ;) glad you are here.
All the stories about roosters just confirms why I am glad we did not keep any of our three this spring. :) maybe when they kids are older.
Hi Jennie! Are you on FB? There is group on there with LOTS of Montana chicken and poultry lovers! There is a guy in the group Walter, who specializes in breeding rare breeds. He has the absolute most beautiful colored Orpingtons... among others.
Well it worked. I just left her outside the run with her own food and water for the day, took her in at night ND out her on the roost. Next day, back to normal. Well, sorta. She has not laid again, but I am sure she will. I think I caught it fast enough... before her mind was set on it...
Seems the time of year for broody girls. I have an Australorp that is broody, I have been booting her out and today decided to put her out to free range. Since she is not laying (because she is broody) I don't worry about her needing the boxes. She was scaring the other girls a away from the...
Welcome chickies4fun! I am from outside of Belgrade so not to far from you. What kid of chickens do you have? How many?
Doug, congrats on your girls hard work! They must be so happy to be laying like that. So sorry to hear about your ex. It always surprises me when people can treat...
I'm bbbaaaaaaccccckkkkkk! I missed you guys! I took a trip alone with my hubby then have been preparing for the new school year. :)
We have 15/20 laying now... I think 3 more of those have had whoop-an-eggy accidental soft eggs but never have we seen them in a nest. Our 25 week old fluffy...
I guess every I know with them loves them. But we all bought them knowing they were not a red sex link, so we were not expecting an egg a day. :)
We are getting 8-11 eggs a day, with our oldest gals all but two laying. I can not wait for the day we get a dozen. Eek! The younger group is 18...
My BO lays 5-6 a week. My friend has one and it lays 5-6 days too. My mother in law has 4 and they are almost 4 years old and all still lay 3-4 a week.
Yay Doug! Our BR eggs are both lighter and a little more yellowish than our BA eggs. Hers are darker brown and more torpedoish. Lol. :) sounds like you are close to having lots of eggs!!!
Karlamaria, I am so sorry it didn't workout to meet up for you to get your two new girls. I do know for sure I will be coming that way the 16th of Aug. If nothing works out before that, they can hitchhike with me and my hubby. I know they are going to be happy with you. :)
OK. I have...
My EE is hardly red at all. That's why I was so shocked! If they are in the boxes I bet you are CLOSE. Keep checking a lot. I am so excited for you! I get excited for each and every egg still. :)
Hi guys! I thought I had 4 girls laying but it seems there are only 3. But they are all laying daily and the rest of my older girls have started messing with the boxes and are squatting like mad so I would guess we will have ALOT of new layers here in the next few days and weeks. So fun! Our...
My EE was 17w4d exactly. :) all mine have become VERY clingy to me and also nosing around in the nesting boxes. Usually once they are in the boxes its within a couple days. :) yay!
