    Raising and caring for ducklings

Brewer’s yeast (in spite of the name) is not beer yeast such as one would use for making beer. Nor is it baking yeast, that is difficult to find in grocery stores now. I find it in the health food store or health food section of the big box grocery store. It is also called, as MasterOfClucker...

I get brewer’s yeast at the health food store, it does not need to be for animals only.

Hey, blufangirl ♥️ I say this with great respect for you and your duckies. They are waterfowl, and you can manage things so that you are all happier, I think Waterfowl have a special relationship with water. It is their joy and they cannot not play in it, splash it, put things in it. They...

Litter pan with high sides and walk-in cutout, or bottom half of a large plastic dog crate, with dried sawdust pellets to absorb splash, and a flat-bottomed, straight-sided stewpot (difficult to turn over) for water. Keeps the rest of the bedding from getting water on it.

As far as I know, the only reason to remove water and food at night is to avoid messes. But I have a watering station that solves that problem, so my ducks have water with food 24/7.

    Raising and caring for ducklings

If they are ducklings, it is not good to take away their water and feed at night, or at any time, not until they are about 10 weeks old, and then only for 8 hours or so. I am concerned about their safety. What is the pen like? Predators will reach through chain link, or bend chicken wire...

Small, either chick grit, or even clean sand. If you are taking them outside for foraging, I think they'll ingest enough soil with sand and tiny stones to help.

I had some ceramic heat lamps from when I raised reptiles. Those are pricey, but they last a long time and work well.

Oh, sad . . . glad you found it, though. Hatching is not for the faint of heart, that's for sure. But if we are involved in life, we are involved in death… Good you could get that out of there so it would not hurt the others. I let my ducks that go broody sit on duds. After a week or two...
