I use a box cutter. Invested into a large handle for safety and so changing the blades is quick as they dull quickly. I used scapels in the past, and those dull fast and are not so easy to come by. ( I have to order them.) Box cutter was a simple substitute for the scalpel.

HEnnible, I like to roast everything as it makes a richer flavor. THen into boiling water for soup. Good save! THis is a good time to remind everyone that rabies is spread via spit and saliva. So be thoughtful of what animal caused the injuries and the circumstances. Obviously most of our...

Perhaps they need a little encouragement to get out on the grass. Can you fence a small area to show them...

THey are pretty. Part of the reason I did not eat any of the first 3 birds I purchased was because my kids made them into pets. We dont eat our pets. I really suggest that you keep all these as breeder birds, then hatch out the first eggs next spring and grow them up for 8 weeks and test...

My muscovy were about 10 weeks. Plenty big enough and breast meat was surprizingly meaty. Better than any chicken I have raised so far except for the cornish crosses. THese were flying for the last week or so. I was worried that the flying would toughen up the meat, so I kept to the original...

If the comb has not faded, then you have a little time. Sooner the better though. Cleaning a dead bird is not recommended and a HUGE loss. On another note . . . We processed two batches of muscovey ducks. 14 last Sunday and 14 today. Had one for dinner. Oh so gooooood. TOok us a bit of time...
