I do it with my birds when it isn’t freezing outside as I let the sun heat my buckets up. But that doesn’t really work when it’s frozen like a rock. My birds like it and I know enough about the science that I don’t worry about them getting sick. I inoculate the feedwith lactobacilli about once...

Do you know if he has which one he used on his thread? It seems like I’ve asked him before but don’t remember the answer.

I was wanting to set up a barrel or two for the ducks. I’m hoping it will save on our water bill since they love their pool refreshed all the time. I also am going to order a larger sized sand pool filter so I can filter their water more instead of dumping it.

That is really neat @Miss Lydia! Don’t worry, I have tons of poopsicles on my back cement patio that I can’t spray off because everything is frozen. Is that a rain barrel I see? If so how do you like it?

I feed my ducks peas because they love them, they are cheap and it seems like if the ducks don’t eat them they go bad because we don’t like them. :lau

Oh no, I didn’t think you were saying that at all. I was just curious as to what specifically they didn’t like about the feed. I can’t resist, I like to know things, ask why, etc lol. And the reference to my Pekin was a general one. I know they inherently have issues so I’m thankful she doesn’t...

Do you by chance have any livestock feed stores besides TSC in your area? Maybe a local one? They are more likely to have different choices.

Although my Pekin isn’t laying yet, she has done well on the Purina flock raiser. I have a bag of oyster shell waiting for when she starts. I know their was an issue with too much vitamin A but was easily solved with cutting back on Kale treats. I’d be interested in what your vet says about...

In my neck of the woods Pyxis, there are several kinds of Purina feed. In fact all three brands I posted are local to me. I better thank my lucky stars. Did I miss the fact that it was this particular “flavor” per se. There are other Purina varieties at my stores for chickens. Like you—

I’ve also used this one: it says in the wording specifically for ducks.

@onaharley do you have either of these available to you? I’ve used both and my ducks love it. They are both around $16 for a 50# bag for me.

That makes complete sense. And heavens no I won’t be reseeding that vile stuff. I’ve scratched my hands up enough. Looks like I will be buying a lot less round up this year! (Of course I wouldn’t spray it where they have access to.)

Wonderful. Now if I can’t get them to understand what plants they can eat and to leave my flowers alone. :lau Do you know if they self propagate it through their droppings?
