I’m sorry she didn’t make it. Sometimes it doesn’t matter what you do, some things can’t be cured. You did all you could and she was lucky to be loved so much. I’m sorry I missed your question earlier, we were without power today and it just came back.
She was such a special hen, I love the...
Personally if she were mine I would stop the corid. I would give her Tylan if I had it or at least garlic. I would also give her meal worms, some suet, Coconut oil as you have and plain cultured yogurt continuing with egg if her crop is not full. Food with a lot of energy. Anything she is...
I don’t want to distract anyone or take away any treatment advice that had been given. You’ve been getting stellar advice.
That being said I use to work in an animal clinic myself and though I’m no doctor it would be my guess that she has some reproductive problem. I’m basing that on the fact...
If you do it just take your time and be sure to let her swallow. Just give a drop at the side at a time and let her swallow. The video points out that she only fills the eye dropper with a small amount at a time so she won’t accidentally give too much at once.
That is actually what healed my hen who was sick with impacted crop for two weeks. It’s really scary to give through eye dropper though. I ended up tube feeding it to her because I was afraid I was going to get it down her lungs.
If you aren’t getting very far with the coconut oil and massaging you might read this thread. https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/possible-impacted-crop.1440241/#post-23879691
I’m so sorry, I know it’s hard. I went through it for a few weeks once with one of my hens. She got better though. It isn’t always possible but often it is and you’re doing a lot for her. I hope she improves soon🙏. It can take time.
If her crop is full she isn’t going to want to eat.
It sounds like she’s impacted if her crop didn’t go down overnight. That medicine should have worked better than that if it was just a case of sour crop. You could try Azygous’s advice for impacted crop.
Here is the link again...
That is what I did and it worked for me. I see others on here recommending a higher dose. I’m no expert.
My thoughts have always been to use the least amount that was effective. One pea size once a day worked on mine.
You should see improvements pretty quickly for sour crop if it’s working.
It is confusing, and every situation can be different. I’m sorry for your losses, Crop issues can be the most frustrating, but they can also easily be cured. I hope she gets better soon.
No, the cream works. It needs to be miconazole. Coconut oil just helps dislodge what might be impacting her crop. It’s that overdoing the cream can also really hurt her, I’ve seen people post it killed their chicken. I just wanted to caution you because it can be overdone. It’s good for treating...
The cream is good for sour crop, I’ve had to use it before, but don’t overdo it. That too can be very bad for her. I personally only give one pea size of it once a day.seven days at most, 5 in the case I was dealing with.
