Finally official...her second “real” egg. She laid soft shells for about four days, and has now switched to actual eggs. :wee I am a little surprised at how light it is, for some reason I was expecting a slightly darker brown.

I found an egg today that I am preeeetty sure came from my 19.5 wk gal. However it’s the EXACT shade of one of my other hen’s eggs, so I’m waiting until tomorrow to see if it really was my sg girl.
So adorable!!! I didn’t get mine until she was 9 weeks old, so i can’t say how she was as a chick, but she’s very gregarious. She doesn’t like to be held, but if she’s any indication of their general temperament you don’t have to worry!

Anyone know how much time is normal before she lays a regular egg? She’s already on layer with the rest of the flock, so I’m assuming it’s just a normal pullet thing...

My SG is about 14 1/2 weeks, she’s starting to get pretty pink around the face, so I’m hoping I’ll see eggs from her in maybe another month! I also have a dark Brahma that’s almost 16 weeks old, but I’ve read they take a little longer to lay. The only other chick I’ve raised (she’s now an adult)...
