I know this is old but was reading up to see when my SGs will lay. They are about 15-16 weeks now so maybe sooner than we thought!

Mine are about 16 weeks too and the anticipation is killing me. I’ve seen a couple watching the older hens lay and they have gone into the boxes so I’m hoping I will get some eggs soon.

I have some other girls (BO and ISA B)that are a few weeks older but haven’t seen any squatting from them either. We are just so excited! My ISA B does squat a bit when I pet her but that could be just because she doesn’t like it!

My SG is about 14 1/2 weeks, she’s starting to get pretty pink around the face, so I’m hoping I’ll see eggs from her in maybe another month! I also have a dark Brahma that’s almost 16 weeks old, but I’ve read they take a little longer to lay. The only other chick I’ve raised (she’s now an adult) took 10 months to lay her first egg, so I don’t have a very good track record!

How fun!!! If they’re laying right at or just after 17 weeks, then I have less than three weeks to wait before mine should lay!

She did it!! 16 weeks 2 days. It’s small but I don’t care haha. The first image it is the bottom egg. I put it next too an Orpington egg for comparison.

We've gotten a few eggs now that we suspect might be SG eggs but since they're in wit retiring girls, we aren't certain. Once the reds are dispatched, we'll know for sure!
