My Gem :love
8 days old + hopefully a pullet!
I didn’t expect her to be as flighty as she is. But maybe it’s my EE’s that bring that out in her

So adorable!!! I didn’t get mine until she was 9 weeks old, so i can’t say how she was as a chick, but she’s very gregarious. She doesn’t like to be held, but if she’s any indication of their general temperament you don’t have to worry!

View attachment 1482703 Yes! An egg from sapphire Gems @18 weeks, actually total of 2 when I got home, The 2 smaller eggs on the right.

Whoo!!:wee
I found an egg today that I am preeeetty sure came from my 19.5 wk gal. However it’s the EXACT shade of one of my other hen’s eggs, so I’m waiting until tomorrow to see if it really was my sg girl.

Finally official...her second “real” egg. She laid soft shells for about four days, and has now switched to actual eggs. :wee I am a little surprised at how light it is, for some reason I was expecting a slightly darker brown.

I thought the same thing. But it is lovely creamy light brown. This egg is my first EVER. Can't wait to check the nest tomorrow.

For those that know your eggs are coming from an SG...are you getting double yolk eggs from them? I have gotten 4 double yolk eggs so far, and I think 3 of them have been from one of my SGs. The 4th was a white egg, and we know which one it came from, as only one of our girls lays white eggs. So we were kinda wondering if it was normal for this breed or just a fluke thing?
