Well the little one that I have nursed is doing swell! It was my brother's birthday egg and I just knew that I couldn't let it go. He has named it Trooper!!!! he he he...Rock on Trooper...Rock on!!!
It has been quite the night. We now have 14 hatched eggs and two more in the bator but i think they will not hatch.
One of my eggs hatched at the wrong end. I left him alone for about 12 hours but noticed the progression to be quite slow. I helped take some of the egg shell off and let it be...
I have one egg that is hatching from the smaller end of the egg and it is trying to hatch lengthwise! Needless to say that it is my brother's egg...always likes to do things the hard way
5 more hatches to go!
I have 7 chicks and 3 more that are trying to hatch. One has pipped on the wrong end of the egg, but I will wait to see what will happens.
Thanks everyone for the help with my questions
This has been absolutely amazing!
Two more eggs hatched and i have 5 pips!!! Yay!
My second chick has a slightly bloody bum...i believe the umbilical cord has ripped off completely. Will this just dry up over time?
I would like to introduce everyone to my very first chick: Diz, a black australorp. She is calling for the other chicks well as now I have 6 eggs that have pipped!!
My fisrt chicks yolk sac came off. I guess it got torn off when moving around. Can he still stay in the bator for 2 days or should I take her out when she is dry?
Learning a lot from this!!! Thanks everyone

Apparently it will take a while before the zipping process begins. I have had two pips from 6 hours ago and one of them zipped in about 20 minutes...
Ahhhhhhhhh.....i have two pips and another is zipping!!!!! How wonderful!!
The two pips are both wyandottes and the one that is almost out is an australorp!
OMG!!!!! I heard chirping!!! I chirped and then they chirped back! Crazy!!!!! Still no pipping.
Night 2 of sleeping on the couch. Have a restless, i mean, goodnught sleep everyone
Congrats everyone on the new chicks!!!
Still nothing here on Day 19... Just rockers but no chirpers. Glued to the bator but managed to clean the house, barn, shop for groceries and slowly cook dinner.
Now time for a drink!!!! Come on my little babies!!!!!

OK, good, I'm not the only one that slept on the couch last night to be close to the incubator.
I actually got up at 1:30 this morning when I heard loud peeping and told DH I had to be closer in case there was a problem. Still no chick, but pipping, rocking and peeping.
Yes! I was up...
I am on day 19 and just have a few of the eggs rockin around but no pips. Slept on the couch to make sure the humidity stayed level...not the greatest of sleep but worth it to see the chicks.
Couple more days!!!!!!!
Hold on tight everyone...
Do you have to put the eggs in carton for hatching or can you let them lay in the bator by themselves?
I have layed a kitchen liner in the bator so there is some grip for the chicks.
I just saw one of my eggs move :o
Yes... Congrats on the new little ones.
I am going into lockdown as of this evening. I candled an egg yesterday and saw the chick doing the YMCA. Dancing away!!!!
I have heard many different numbers for the humidity to be at. I have built my own forced air bator. Would 65% humidity be better...
I am also using the kitchen shelf liner as well, but will poke some holes in it for better circulation. I think it is a smart idea
Happy hatching everyone! I have a few more days until lockdown!!! AHHHHHHHHHH!!!
