Interesting. I have to admit I know nothing about the Buff color except that it's far more complicated than it appears to be and very difficult to "get right"—it intimidates and confuses me. I've also learned to hate the cream gene thanks to the Legbars. That's probably why my instinct is to go...
A lesson in how to get run off the Brabanter/Spitzhauben thread with pitchforks:
Ok, hear me out... but if there are Chamois Spitzhauben in the US and bearded Buff Laced Polish in the US... how many generations would it take to get back to chamois Brabanter?!
I'm personally a fan of bearded...
I had a Little Giant version of the styrofoam box incubator. I was skeptical that there would be much of a difference, but it all boils down to the thermostat. The GQF thermostats are just very superior and prevent the temperature fluctuations that you get with other versions, I guess. I also...
For approximately the same price (a little more I suppose if you spring for the auto-turner,) you can get a Genesis Hovabator with the fan and have double the capacity. I highly recommend that one! I was having terrible luck hatching until I switched to one, and it's been a breeze since.
How exciting! You should be able to cull that down to two good trios (basically your best trio, and some backups,) so hopefully that won't max you out too bad. Probably the hardest part of these being your first chickens AND such a project will be recognizing the necessity to move them on to...
All I have left is a clutch of mixed bantams I hatched out on Leap Day. They'll be going to new homes before I move, and I'll get a totally fresh start on the farm. :) It will be a working farm so I'm trying really, really hard to stay practical in my breed shopping...but I just love these crazy...
Just out of curiosity....how many Brabanters do you all think I'd have to order from Ideal to get a couple of solid starter trios? 50? 100? Any thoughts as to which variety might be the better bet?
Beyond that, is there ANYONE in the US actually exhibiting Gold Brabanters from their own...

If you don't want many (like 25+), sign up for the "notify me". I had done that earlier and forgot about it and they recently let me know they could fill the order, but I couldn't take them by that time.
Wow, check out these birds: http://www.komovdvor.spb.ru/kurirus/pavl.html
Pavlovian fowl. They look just like Brabanters with feathered feet! Gorgeous.
In any population without a wide gene pool, inbreeding is necessary. For best results, you should spend several generations culling heavily on health and hardiness first. Pick the fluffy polish-style top knot over the correct top knot if the ugly one is healthier! No breed with a small gene pool...

8??? Are you sure you want 8 of them? I hate to see you run into one or two pullets out of the 8 but hopefully the odds would go even further if you got all pullets!
I will have no problem getting rid of surplus birds, and I am trying to (Dont shoot me)crossbreed them into another...

They are certainly very appealing to me!
Let's see if I have my facts straight:
Medium size bird, kind of a small Large Fowl.
Lays good sized white egg with some regularity, even though they can be late to mature.
Very colorful with a great hairdo.
Friendly and personable.
