I didn't make it clear. I was referring to hummingbird feeders. I haven't seen any my self in the winter but there are quite a few verified reports here in the winter. I see them from April through October but we only see Ruby Throated. A lot of strays in the winter are Rufus.
I have not seen them. The local Audubon society reports then occasionally. They are more plentiful along the Georgia Coast. I really would like to see one.
We seem to have the most Red Tailed Hawks here or at they are the most visible. We only see the small American Kestrel here. Both Sharp Shinned and Coopers hawks are seen in my area.
I saw some Goldfinches here this weekend that had almost completely turned. It is about time for them to leave. Some of them nest in the North Georgia mountains but not here.
I have a friend that lives in Northfield. We worked together at Lockheed in Atlanta '69-'71. He went back home to Minnesota when we got laid off and met a Minnesota girl and stayed. He said that he could never get her to leave Minnesota. He flew down here in March one year and we were sitting...
I saw my first butterfly of the season today. It was a beautiful Tiger Swallowtail that was flying around drinking nectar from the Yoshino Cherries that are in full bloom.
I am starting to see the Goldfinches get a little darker and the Redbirds are getting brighter but the large flocks of Goldfinches. I haven't seen any Cedar Waxwings this year. I usually have a large flock that strips the berries off of my Savannah Hollies in about 3 days.
