After several changes in vision, budget cuts, and project expansions, we finally have a functional product with occupants! It's 6x12 with 4x6 elevated coop 3' off the ground.

I just figured out how to make a remotely accessible web cam for my coop using an old free laptop and an old webcam I had lying around. I'm am officially needing up my coop.

So my coop is 4' wide at the narrowest point, and we are moving into a house where the gate to get it to the back yard is 3' 6" wide. This thing is all 3/4" pressure treated ply and pressure treated 2x4, so it would take an army of hulks to lift it. Any ideas how to Houdini this thing in?

Love the idea of the privacy fence for the end. I may have to plan a new build down the road.

iralc oT To clarify, I have 2 vents each on the opposing shorter sides of the coop, and one in the door, all near the top (appx 4 ft). I also have the 12x18 hen entrance on the wall opposing the real door with the window in it. Does the combination of the hen door low and the 5 vents high...

Hmm. In mine I have vents near the top, and the door open to the run. Is a 12*18" door enough to allow for air movement?

If you make you own, especially if making smaller coop, make them adaptable. Ex. my 4x6 coop butts up to the 6x8 run, but I made legs for it so I could raise the coop 2.5 feet to give them 24 more ft of run space if needed.

Quote: I started off with a TSC 6-8 bird prefab coop for $150. It fit 4 10 week old birds barely. Build a 6x8x4 run from pressure treated 2x4 for about $120 including all my wire and hinges for 2 doors etc. Then I built a 6x4x4 coop out of pressure treated 2x4 and prepainted plywood siding and...

I was worried about the girls not wanting to use the roosting bar last night (1st night in new coop). So I spied on them today using a game camera I won at Cabela's black Friday thing. I think I got busted. 550 pictures in 8 hours... They like the roosting bar after all. Now to catch...

Do you think you will have problems with water pooling on the roof when it rains? That was one of the biggest problems I tried to figure out since I didn't want the time and expense of framing out a proper roof right now.

Now if I can get them to use the nesting boxes and the roost in the coop instead of the floor.

Good to know about the ramp, it just wastes floor space. The roost is about 12"from the wall, but I might just run one roost bar the 8 feet across the front and then shift the nesting box to where the door will be instead of adding a egg door.

I think it is 4x7 or 4x8 with that little box on the back. Probably for roosting only, with a little indoor feed?
