I heard a NYD chick try to crow yesterday. Darn Aloha Overachievers....
Sommer, you'll need to come pick through the roos and see if any catch your eye before I move them along.
You can also come take culls for your neighbor, if you want.
I have some hatching from my breeding pen right now. Methinks they are mostly going to look heavily like SS, which is ok, since I was outcrossing. But the SS hens aren't the only ones in that pen, so don't worry if chicks from my eggs are less "Aloha-y" what Sommer's. Put those chicks in...
Karen- You are welcome!!! Hopefully these eggs will do well for your both.
I am happy we'll have some major-sized flocks somewhere other than the Valley.
Tonya-- did you get your presents? I was sooooo sad, because after Sommer left, the chocolate siklies laid another 4 eggs. DOH!!
It makes me giggle to imagine you going outside and digging up roses. And then Notinoz driving aaaaaalll the way back in a filled car, smelling like little old ladies.
LOL. I can see notinoz dropping off a bunch of wilted roses.
I'll take eggs for the Easter hatch, but not many please--I suspect Dar may be using bator space again.
Further fluffing out reveals the chick is not black, but a deep dark brown chipmunk.
As for the eggs marked "Sommer" one has hatched already, maybe more, but I have not been pulling out the shells to check, since the chicks are still hatching. Slow bunch this time.
LOL. What if we just sent twice as many eggs with you, and the KS people met up to disseminate them? (I have no idea wheresabouts in KS they all live, so I am just talking out my bottom.)
Unless you can find adult birds, it may be easier for us to ship you eggs. My current breeding pen is mostly outcrosses with the speckled sussex under an Aloha rooster. (Outcrossing has been my job during this breeding project: attempting to increase the size while retaining the good laying...
That's what I mean...you shouldn't need to hide anything while crossing the border. Put the eggs in a cooler under some sandwiches and don't mention them.
Speaking of which: I am not setting eggs again until the 17th of March. Sommer: I will collect eggs from the breeeder pen and set them aside for you. OKalie Dokalie?
