So sorry for your loss! Hmmm, maybe it doesn't work with mixed breed hens? I hadn't tried that... all the Silkie crosses I had hatched were by purebred yellow skinned hens... :/ I just relooked at your pics and looks like the black chick has yellow feet bottoms, that actually indicates...
Very cute! Looks like you might have 2 little pullets, too... do both have dark skin? Look under their wings to see the skin there is easiest to tell... if both have dark skin, then they're pullets... light skin would be cockerel...
Good luck on the last, and they are very cute! I think the brown has dark skin, hard to see in the pic (feet and legs sometimes get extra color than the skin)... dark skin means girl, light/yellow will be boy... so think you have 2 girls and a boy so far...
Looks like it'll be black, or at...
Yellow chick probably has yellow skin, so boy... check the skin on the body of the brown chick, look under the wing is easiest... is that skin yellow or black/dark?
White bird is the hen? She has white/yellow skin, yes? If so, then your chicks are sex-linked...
If sex-linked, black chick is a girl... what color skin do the other 2 have?
I only have 1 right now, and she has black skin and very small, flattish comb, no wattles...
Silkie mix roo? Idk if it works for a mix, but a Silkie roo over a hen with yellow skin makes sex link... pullets have black skin and cockerels have yellow/yellowish skin...
I'd say you are very right! :) Black skin, purple comb and smooth feathers are a common indicator of a Silkie cross... and I bet his feathers are supe soft too, huh?
Thanks! We think so too! :D
Didn't think the Silkie had figured out which end was which yet... got a big surprise when she popped out of the CCL egg, lol... just happy she's a girl!!
