You could go with hair sheep if you want the qualities of sheep without the shearing. There are at least three breeds that I know of that shed their wool. Dorper, Barbados Blackbelly, and Katahdin.

I've gotten some birds from them. Long drive for me, but their stock is quality if the birds I got from them are any indication of what they normally produce.
