    I'm with Jeremy. It is not leakage on the lavender, it is sun bleaching, outdoor runs without a cover and scratch grains that causes this in the roosters. The hens/pullets do not get this at all. I have been raising them since the beginning of the project.

    Joy, I have not gotten an egg from my part english hens and pullets since Oct., I have 40 of them!!!!! I have tried everything this winter so it looks like I'm going to be having roast chicken soon!! I can't afford to feed that many without getting an egg even tho they are pretty yard birds...

    Wyandottes have rose combs and Orps single comb. I say Wyandotte or a mix too.

    I've had the stubs happen in BLRW bantams but never the english orps. Yet!!! I have to agree I think you can see anything pop up or out in chickens. That's why breeders say cull! I don't think it's a big deal either but who knows.......

    LOL if by chance ( not) that SHE crows I'll buy ya once of those purses!!!!!! I still say a pullet I was fooled once thinking an Orp roo and got a big combed wattled hen and then once by one of the english blacks thinking pullet and she Crowed!!!! But that is all after all these years so...

    Poor boy needs a sweater or some of that purse material to cover his little self. Better yet send him to WV, I have a gal or two that would love to cuddle with him!
