@wheresbigfoot I’m so sorry you lost the one duckling, but glad the one is happy and healthy! Definitely check your state thread here, and neighboring states if you are within driving distance to another state. Craigslist, Facebook groups, I hope you can find her a friend soon. :hugs

Sorry, it doesn’t look good. If you can, keep her immobile, and hope it draws in. :(

You can apply some Vaseline or antibiotic ointment to keep anything from sticking to it.

I can’t tell if it’s bodily waste, leftover gunk from hatching, or unabsorbed yolk. I think I would prepare a small bowl, line it with a damp paper towel and try to remove everything around the navel to see if anything is still actually attached. If it’s just small stringy stuff, it can be...

I can’t really make out what’s going on from the pictures. How’s it doing now?

I’ve done both ways. Depends on how alert and anxious she is to get out. The main problem with sitting up is a slight possibility of ripping something on the edge of the shell, if she struggles. But if you prop her up with paper towels or a soft rag around her, it should be fine either way.

Often times there will be gunk left in the bottom of the egg. If a small string is still attached to the baby, it can usually be shipped with scissors, as long as it’s not a huge protrusion or very bloody. But wait till it tries to work itself out of the shell, then check it out. Edit— and if...

Probably good to just let her rest for a bit. She will be up and running around soon. Did you check the navel? Is the yolk all pulled into the body?

:D The extra pips are usually close to the original one. They don’t move around a whole lot, but some, just getting into better position once they break thru the membrane, then work their way into the air cell space.

:ya for pips! Keep in mind that ducklings will punch around on the shell, possibly a few times before they start their actual zip, so don’t be alarmed or too worried if it happens. :fl good luck!

If you haven’t left yet, might add a tube of betadine just in case of emergency and some triple antibiotic ointment, if you don’t have any. Usually not necessary, but while you’re stocking up, ya know. Lol Sounds like they are coming along fine. Now keep the lid closed as much as possible and...

I believe the candling video shows an internal pip. Can’t make it out for sure. Can you hear any chirping or pecking noises? Especially if you tap on the shell? And the spot...hmm I have seen bruises when one tries to pip and pierces the membrane inside but doesn’t break the shell, and a little...

The video taken with the egg laying down, see how fuzzy the shadow looks on the bottom half of the egg? Once they are fully situated, it will look a little more solid... less fuzzy... sorry its hard to describe. I just think that it will push into the fat end a little bit more before it gets...

Looks like good movement to me! Doesn’t quite have her neck all the way down in the bottom of the fat end of the egg yet, so I’d give it more time. I think you will see an internal pip soon, if it hasn’t happened yet. Sometimes it’s hard to tell unless you move the light all the way around the...
