I think they often only have breeds that are uber-rare, and once folks outside of GFF begin breeding & sharing them with others, they are not as interested in keeping them, as they cannot make as much money once there are more folks with them. JMO.
fever, mine aren't super green, either...and I don't have any I can swap now. I don't use lights on my birds, and I'm barely getting any eggs now. Sigh.
It makes me wonder - does ANYONE get darker green eggs from their Isbars?
WHen you say "khaki" do you mean tan or greenish khaki?
Greenfire FArms, IMO, did a huge disservice to the breed by messing with the pictures the used to advertise the egg color. Mine most definitely lay "green" and I do believe "moss green" (I think that's what Greenfire describes them as)...
OH my word, lonny...
Okay, I took some pics of my Isbar trio. Here they are!
Group shot - I love love the coloring of the cockerel. He almost looks silver through the hackles, and has a lovely blue tail with dark blue splashes through it. His comb is erect and he has the huge eyes that I...
I know, I know...I'm sorry, guys! Yep, I need to read the manual. I dunno why I hate that sort of thing. It's the reason my cell phone is so old. I've been eligible for an upgrade for over 2 years now. They have some pretty neat phones now, but learning a new one...blech. I just want...
I need to get some good pics - I lost my digital camera for months, finally bit the bullet & got another one, but haven't read up on it and it frustrates the heck out of me! I hate learning new devices. I'll work on it, though. The male I kept is gorgeous; I chose him because his comb is very...
Hi, Nomi - I don't update my website, I have someone do that for me; I really do need to get her some pics of my trio & get my site updated. Yes, I can sell hatching eggs, and my pullets have been laying for a month or so now; however, I only have two, so my goal is to get more hatched off yet...
Okay, folks, Mary and I are friends, and I was just teasing her. NO harm done, and it's a super fantastic thing to be able to include extras - I do the same thing myself when I can - I was just teasing, PLEASE do not think I was serious!!!
CONGRATS Kimmi! Cuties for sure!
annie - you got 8 chicks out of how many eggs? That seems like a decent amount; 50% or more on shipped eggs is considered a really good hatch. That 15-week old male - holy cow, my males have HUGE HONKING combs & wattles - WAY bigger than this one! He's...
Nomi, it's very possible they may just not be in the breeds listing here on BYC. They're rare in the U.S., not APA approved, but hopefully one day they WILL be.
WOOT! WOOT! WOOT!
Both of my pullets are now laying! SO exciting!
Goodness, this is a S-L-O-W moving thread!
I got my first Isbar egg on Saturday - not a great pic, but the 2 large ones are first generation olive egger eggs and the Isbar egg is almost exactly the same color. Pretty!
