Ahhhh, a first time pregnant daughter. She will think back about how silly she was with all of those raging hormones. I know I have. I'm only 32 and I can't wait for all of the hormonal mood changes of menopause
I have also been having the same thoughts about if I could have only...

Ruth-I've been wondering how your babies are. I sure hope your girls sneezes aren't anything serious. Everyone keeps talking about pneumonia. I'll keep my fingers crossed for your babies. I just can't believe my babies are really gone
I have emailed a couple of goats rescue that are nearby because a couple of weeks ago they told me they were going to be having kids soon. Let's hope they have some. Even if Daisy won't except them as her own I can use the milk replacer up.

When I first found the babies half frozen I told my kids not to get too attached because they might not live. Now I'm the one who hasn't stopped crying since this morning. I've resorted to putting my pajamas back on and laying in bed with my 2 year old. I just don't know what else to do.

I doubt Daisy kicked them while they were nursing. She was always gentle and made sure they were out of the way when she was laying down. The only thing that was in the shed was hay and a bucket full of water. I made sure the bucket was tall enough so the kids couldn't get in it and...
Thank you everyone! I really don't know who else I would have turned to. This is all so new to me. I will definitely keep the kids with her until she starts to loose interest. If and when I ever decide to breed Daisy I will have a shed full of supplies ready for anything that could possibly go...
I went out to the goat shed last night and the babies were bouncing around like crazy and sucking on Daisy like usual. When I went out this morning to check on them THEY WERE DEAD, both of them. What happened? I don't understand they were both doing so well. Can someone give me some kind of...

Congrats on having new babies, or soon to be new babies! I'll be waiting to see the pictures. Did you happen to post a picture of her pregnant belly? I thought there was a thread somewhere on here about pregnant bellies. If I would have know I would have posted one of Daisy's belly.
Here's a couple pics. Babies seem to be doing well. Daisy's bag hasn't filled yet but she is producing milk finally. I last checked on the babies at 10pm last night and didn't go out until 7am this morning. I offered them some milk replacer and they didn't drink much so I'm thinking that Daisy...

I KNOW!........
I already asked my husband if we could buy some infant diapers and take the babies grocery shopping with us. You know people would just love seeing the babies.

Ahhh thanks! but I can only take a little bit of the credit. Most of it goes to Daisy the mama goat and to all of the awesome BYCer's who gave me such great advice.

The only thing that alerted me that Daisy might have been pregnant was that about a month ago she started dripping mucus. The problem with that is....that's what happens when they go into heat. So it was all a guessing game. I would feel for kicks on her right side and I was really...

Sounds about right to me. She'll have colostrum for a couple days and then really start to make milk. Just keep an eye on her.
I have Boer goats and stall them to kid. I agree with the other person that said to put mom and the kids in a small stall (mine are 4'x6') with the kids...

I am pretty tired but thankfully the kids school starts 2 hours late because it snowed again last night. I'll charge up the batteries for my camera and get some better pictures later today. I feel like I'm addicted to goats now. I want to do it all over again. I'm the same way when I...

I'd probably been more of a wreck knowing I was waiting for babies. Having these cute babies has got me thinking that maybe I need to cut back on my 130 chickens and get more goats. Just what my husband wants!
I have a new question for all of you goat veterans. The babies are sucking on mom all of the time, so when is her bag going to fill? I squeezed her teat and she only has colostrum coming out still. Is this okay.

If you can put them in front of a heater that blows hot air. At one point I even used a hair dryer. I honestly believe. They would have died without being warmed up that way. Just being in the house wasn't warm enough. Why don't you just squeeze the colostrum out of mama. It worked for...

I just happened to worm her about 2 weeks ago because I didn't know she was pregnant. If I would have know she was going to have babies I would have wormed here herbally instead. It's good to know about the Vitamin E.
The girl is still a little slower then her brother but she's still improving. He's a little firecracker. He's been pawing at the hay and even bouncing around already. I'd name him Firecracker but we already had a guinea pig with that name thanks to my 5 year old(Firecracker and Nutcracker.) As...
