Well my RIR finally laid her first egg this morning!
As you can see both hens laid eggs one right after the other. I looked out the window to check on the hens and saw RIR resting in her dust bath while Gumby is just scratching around.
Then I saw THE EGGS!!!!! Yippee ll
This is awesome...
Awesome! Here in the valley so much quail, I love these birds. My dad used to quail hunt once a year but this is the first time I've experienced watching them wild about my yard op
Thank you!
I was thinking same about throwing away. She's laying late morning. I left at 10 am but wasn't able to get home until 4 pm and of course there's an egg sitting out, warm sun, etc.
I'm not posting any more of her eggs, lol
Was just so surprised they're every day.
Other hen will lay...
Thank you!
My little Gumby is on a roll 3rd day 3rd egg tiny like yesterday's. I believe if this is size she settles on I'll be okay. Eggs are for personal use and once other starts laying I think it'll be more than enough
And can anyone tell me how quickly I need to bring them in? I wasn't...
How exciting! If you didn't see them lay would you know which hen is producing what egg?
I got a second day second egg! Yippee! Mid morning she jumped in basket scratched around got out again. By the time I can inside and looked out window she had gotten back up and laid a tiny egg smaller then...
I'm on edge just waiting for the second of my two. How 3xciting for you. The immature one may surprise you. My two were lagging behind my friends. We got all three same place same day. Hers matured so quickly and grew beautifully. But my little Gumby caught up and beat our both RIRs
Hahaha, I wish someone would post recording of song. It would be interesting to hear the difference between birds. Mine noisy last week when nothing happened, Lol
First egg!!!!!
Silly bird. I was up at. 4:30. Was watching hens ,they roost by the window. Saw one kinda moving around. Awhile later I see the egg she dropped from the roost. It fell about 6 feet.
I had a large basket with deep fill a little below, but I made the mistake of placing something...
Too bad there are no speckles. I read the pattern per egg is like a fingerprint. Remains the same for all her eggs. I cant read fingerprints any better than tea leaves, so I can't imagine I personally would do any better at recognizing the different eggs. Ha ha
From what I've been reading it looks like from a different hen. Is it possible? Please share with me why do you think it's from same?
One of mine should be white the other brown, so if this hold true it should be easy for me. I only have the two.
I second! I've had so much fun reading about everyone's first experience. The stories are as varied as all of us, yet the wonder of that first egg remains true throughout. Be it simple tale, a spiritual connection or not I think it's as exciting as Christmas.
Thank you all for your posts and...
