IV bags of lactated ringers solution (LRS) for giving sub-q fluids or tube feeding. 35cc syringes with normal tip for giving sub-q fluids. 35cc and 60cc syringes with catheter tip...

I was just going to mention that... I believe that the FDA says it's okay to use drugs not labeled for use in poultry as long as you are doing it with veterinary supervision. I'll see if I can find the link that said that.

You were right... My roommate found some info that says NPIP is more of a state "thing", not federal. I stand corrected!

Curiously, did your doctors do a culture and sensitivity test for your sinus infection? Hope you feel better soon!

I think that prescribing veterinarians might be at risk, too. I've been told that some will not give/prescribe Baytril to anyone with poultry.

The guy that does the mandatory flock testing for the reportable diseases in our area is an actual Doctor. When I was talking to him about the issues at the feed store, he knew all about which drugs were banned and why. If you guys don't find anything, I'll give him a call.

Here is another must have for me: Nolvasan Solution - gram positive/gram negative bactericide *and* virucide. It's very expensive, but if you want to disinfect like the vets do, this is the way to go. The active ingredient is chlorhexadine: http://www.drugs.com/vet/nolvasan-solution.html

Baytril is a great antibiotic and it's saved many of my animals, too. I've purchased Baytril without a prescription many times... The link in my first post tells how to do it. Just do a search for "Baytril birds" and you'll find it there. I won't use Baytri or metronidazole on any food...

If you believe everything on the web, metronidazole (Flagyl, Fish-Zole) is banned by the FDA for use in food animals. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metronidazole

Yes it is, which is why I included the link about Baytril. My vet made me promise never to eat any eggs or the meat from a bird that I gave metronidazole and/or Baytril to. Which got me thinking, is metronidazole banned as well? According to this PDF it is...
