Wao I found something just like that. It was used for bread. I have it outside. I put screen on it so my seeds don't fall. So far it's working. I use the top empty to protect from other birds. My only concern is that the fodder roots might get stuck to the screen. I'll post how it works out.
I'm having such a hard time getting seeds. Flex and alfa was the only issue was able to find. I don't have mills here and the feed store have no idea what I'm talking about. I tried on line but too expensive.
I just started with flex it's doing its thing for three days, yet the alfa feels sticky. I water it a lot and still sticky. Not sprouting at all (day 2)
I want the best for my babies but I do live with a budget. And the chicken math is, well most of us, is getting bigger. They are growing and soon need more feed. I already am fermenting and I really want to give them some green. I did look for seeds but it is all just too expensive.
Specially...
I can't find anyone around that sells seeds and my girls are desperate for some green. Every time I go to feed they want to come out to eat the grass. I can't free range so that's out of the question. What can I use that is easy to get
OK so what you guys are saying is that I can feed the fodder only to my flock and they don't need the pellets. Also I can only find wheat not red wheat, just plain wheat. Is this enough for food? :barnie
what a relief. I thought my hard work was down the drain. I have two horses one smelled it and walk away. The other couldn't have enough. We are all different I guess they are to. Lol
well I feed it to them. I don't know if I over feed or if they didn't like it so much. Will see tomorrow. Should I feed their normal food. They look hungry yet still have fodder.
