I don't like the show quality fantails at all. They look deformed. They even walk on their tip toes instead of their feet. I am sure they must be in some level of pain like that. Imagine if people started breeding dogs or cats like that... they would be banned. But, I love the 'normal'...

Yes, thanks for the offers, but think I am too far from you guys... in Thailand. The fancy pigeon hobby is virtually non existent here, specially up North where live. They are big racing pigeon lofts in Bangkok. But hardly anyone keeps fancy pigeons apart from fantail pigeons.

Lovely patterned and colours... what breed are they? In answer to your question... YES. Males will feed and care for the previous batch until they are able to take care of themselves... and the male will also brood the eggs of the new batch. The females usually ignore the first batch babies...

Not very good from watching mine. If they get disturbed at night they will fly and miss the perches as they try to land... usually they will fly at the mesh and climb up onto the perches if they get pushed of their perch at night by another bird.

I used to make small wooden half open fronted boxes for my garden doves. About 42 inch long. Then I fixed them up under the house roof overhang. They roosted and nested in the boxes... high up from predators. I used to keep a water dispenser and feeder on the bird table in the garden for...

Better wait till he has some young birds for you.. not adults.. which will return to his home as its so close to you. They breed really fast so it won't be long to wait!! When you get the young ones keep them inside for at least one month.

They are a really good choice. Very gently and calm... and easy to handle, and they get on well with each other and other pigeon breeds.. They are good parents.. and they look fantastic when they are free flying.. the colours make a nice pattern as they fly past.. very striking.

They kind of look creepy and cute at the same time when they get to that age.... I hate the way they feel so hot when you pick them up.. if you have to clean the nest or move them for some reason... kind of like little sweaty hot hedgehogs!!! Anyone know why they generate so much heat? My...

I have spotted a beautiful racing pigeon in my local park.. its a saddle back... mostly white with the grey barred wings. I have been trying to catch it when I go into the city... but it seems to be at the bottom of the pecking order and won't get in with the other pigeon scrum by my feet...

Well done for helping him. The missing feathers on his head is a sign he got attacked and 'scalped' by other pigeons. Usually a male will do this trying to take over the nest. That may be how he got to be in the parking lot.. kicked out of his nest. The feathers will grow back.. so he...
